England and Senegal will go head-to-head in a friendly at the City Ground on Tuesday 10th June at 7:45pm. This meeting takes place amid both teams’ respective World Cup qualifying campaigns and will be broadcast live on ITV1.
Double Chance Senegal (7/4 with Paddy Power)
Thomas Tuchel will be expecting a much better performance after England’s underwhelming win over Andorra last weekend, but his team face stiffer opposition in the form of Senegal. The Lions of Teranga are currently enjoying a long 23-game unbeaten run in all internationals (W16, D6). However, one of those matches resulted in a penalty shootout defeat to Ivory Coast in the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations final.
Senegal are certainly no pushovers and after England’s subpar performance on Saturday, I think they can cause England problems. With Premier League quality in attack with Nicolas Jackson and Ismaila Sarr and Edouard Mendy returning between the sticks, I’m surprised to see 7/4 available for the visitors to avoid defeat at the City Ground.
Ismaila Sarr First Goalscorer (14/1 with Sky Bet)
Ismaila Sarr finished the season in strong form for Crystal Palace, lifting the FA Cup and scoring three goals in his last five league appearances. The Senegal international came off the bench and scored the equaliser against Ireland on Friday and should be rewarded with a start here. Some bookmakers have him priced at 14/1 to find the net first on Tuesday, a price which looks a shade too big.

How both teams go into England vs Senegal
Both teams enter this showdown looking to maintain their respective unbeaten streaks.
Before facing Senegal, the Three Lions had taken Andorra in their WCQ, which started positively with a pair of home wins over Albania (2-0) and Latvia (3-0). Those successes extended England’s winning streak to five matches. The last three wins came in the UEFA Nations League, and in terms of their qualification status for the 2026 World Cup finals, they are firmly in control of Group K, three points ahead of Albania with six matches remaining.
As for the Lions of Teranga, they are currently on a 14-game unbeaten run (10 wins and four draws) and find themselves one point behind Congo DR in their World Cup qualification group despite yet to suffer a defeat (three wins and three draws).
England team news
Tomas Tuchel will most likely take the opportunity to make several changes to the side that started against Andorra, which could result in starting opportunities for Dean Henderson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Levi Colwill, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Declan Rice, Eberechi Eze and Anthony Gordon.
Senegal team news
Head coach Pape Thiaw has announced that Sadio Mane will not feature due to personal reasons. Elsewhere, Crystal Palace star Ismaila Sarr should feature, and the same for Tottenham midfield lynchpin Pape Matar Sarr and Idrissa Gueye of Everton.
England vs Senegal head to head
England won the only previous meeting between the nations, which came at the 2022 World Cup round of 16 stage. Gareth Southgate’s side ran out 3-0 winners. Jordan Henderson opened the scoring before Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka sealed the win.
