EFL League Two – Gameweek 43 preview as everything remains up for grabs

The League Two season is edging closer to it’s dramatic conclusion with no teams assured of their status in the EFL.

Nothing is decided at either end of the table in League Two, with five teams competing for two automatic promotion spots and five teams still in danger of dropping into non-league. We’ve got all the info you need ahead of gameweek 43.

League Two Gameweek 43 tips

We’ve been crunching the numbers ahead of the League Two action this weekend and come up with two singles that could see profit this weekend as well as an accumulator that we think stands a good chance of coming in.

Bristol Rovers come into this game off the back of a sensational run, winning their last five games to pull clear of the clubs threatened by relegation. Their latest victory, a 3-2 win away at Harrogate, shows they have the firepower to outscore opponents even when conceding, and picking up as many points as possible is vital to finish the season strongly, especially with several teams around them holding games in hand.

Crawley Town had been showing signs of life but their form has dropped off a cliff, with the Red Devils losing their most recent match 0-2 at home to Grimsby. It could be another bad weekend for Crawley if Bristol Rovers can maintain their clinical edge and secure their sixth win in a row.

MK Dons come into this top-of-the-table clash as the most prolific side in League Two, having found the net 77 times already this season. Their clinical nature at Stadium MK has been the foundation of their promotion push, and with second place on the line, they are likely to remain on the front foot throughout. Averaging nearly two goals per game, the Dons have shown they can dismantle even the tightest defences in the division.

Bromley arrive as league leaders and have maintained their own scoring consistency, having found the back of the net in each of their last seven matches. With 67 goals to their name, they possess one of the most potent attacks in the league and will be keen to extend their lead at the summit. Given that both sides rank in the top four for goals scored, it could be a high-scoring encounter if both teams continue their current attacking form.

Three potential winners in League Two on Friday

MK Dons or Bromley

There’s a massive game at the right end of the League Two table this weekend and picking a winner looks to be near impossible. Bromley and MK Dons are separated by seven points at the summit and both are in pole position for automatic promotion.

A win for either side would be a statement of intent in the title race and has the added bonus of denting the other’s momentum. The Dons are the division’s highest scorers with 77 goals, while Bromley arrive having found the net in each of their last seven matches.

Grimsby or Crewe

That isn’t the only massive game in the promotion fight this weekend, though. Grimsby and Crewe also face off on Saturday, both sitting within touching distance of the playoff spots.

Neither has been particularly consistent over the full season but both have found their groove recently, with both winning three of their last four. This looks a wide open contest and a win for either side could see them move firmly into the top seven as the season reaches its climax.

Fabrizio Cavegn

The Bristol Rovers frontman is sitting on 10 goals for the season and has been the driving force behind their recent resurgence. He’ll be desperate to add to that tally and help his side climb further away from the bottom half before the campaign concludes.

Rovers come up against a struggling Crawley Town side this weekend and are the form team in the division. Crawley have conceded in each of their last few outings and are hovering dangerously close to the drop zone. It’s a great chance for Cavegn to lead the line and continue his impressive scoring streak at the Memorial Stadium.

Three potential losers in League Two on Friday

Newport County or Harrogate Town

There’s a massive game at the wrong end of the League Two table this weekend and picking a loser looks to be a grim certainty for someone. Newport and Harrogate are separated by just one point at the foot of the table and both are staring relegation to the National League in the face.

A loss for either side would be a devastating blow to their survival hopes and has the added misery of allowing a direct rival to pull away. Harrogate have been in freefall, conceding goals at an alarming rate, while Newport have struggled to find any sort of rhythm during the business end of the season.

Bristol Rovers or Crawley Town

That isn’t the only massive game in the relegation fight this weekend, though. Bristol Rovers and Crawley also face off in a high-stakes encounter, with Crawley sitting precariously just above the relegation zone.

Crawley look particularly vulnerable after their recent home defeat to Grimsby while Bristol Rovers have won five in a row. This looks a nervy contest and a loss for Crawley could spell disaster, while Bristol Rover risk losing their momentum with an unexpected loss.

Harry McKirdy

The Crawley frontman is sitting on a respectable goal tally of 8 goals for the season but has hit a frustrating dry spell at the worst possible time. He’ll be desperate to find the net and drag his side toward safety, but the goals have dried up for the clinical striker in recent outings.

Crawley come up against an in-form Bristol Rovers side this weekend and are one of the most vulnerable teams in the division. Rovers have been defensively solid during their recent winning run and are clinical at the other end. It’s a tough environment for McKirdy to rediscover his scoring touch, and another blank could be on the cards at the Memorial Stadium.
