Defenders – Patrick Dorgu Over 1.5 fouls committed
To kick off our Bet Builder for the Manchester derby, we have examined four defenders who are likely to start on Sunday and compared some of their key metrics. The betting market we have related this to is the ever-popular ‘fouls committed’ market.
Obviously, we are dealing with a relatively small sample size this term, with just three matches played in the Premier League so far. However, looking back a bit further, the stand-out choice here is to back Patrick Dorgu to commit over 1.5 fouls.
Of the four players mentioned above in the Comparison Matrix, Rayan Ait-Nouri (4) has given away the most fouls this term. Dorgu may have only given away three fouls, although he has played one game fewer. However, upon closer examination, we can see that in his last five away starts for Manchester United, he has given away foul totals of 2, 2, 1, 3, and 4. With this selection landing in four of his last five, and considering we should see plenty of fouls in this derby, he makes an excellent value selection at 19/20 for two or more fouls.
Midfielders – Tijani Reijnders Over 0.5 Assists
Tijjani Reijnders has hit the ground running since his summer arrival, showcasing his quality with a goal and an assist on debut against Wolves. Dynamic, composed, and full of confidence, he already looks like one of the smartest signings of the window.
This weekend against Manchester United, his influence could be decisive. Reijnders’ runs from deep have the potential to unpick United’s midfield, while his vision and finishing make him a constant threat in the final third. If he’s given the space to roam, City’s fluid attack will only become more dangerous and Reijnders could well add to his early-season tally.
On the Comparison Matrix, we can see that Reijnders has a higher passing accuracy than both Bernardo Silva and Mason Mount, and is the only one of the trio to provide an assist this season. With this in mind, it’s surprising to see that Reijnders is a bigger price in the assist market than both of the other two players. We expect City to score at least two goals on Sunday, and it would be no surprise to see the Dutchman turn provider again.

Forwards – Bryan Mbeumo Over 0.5 Shots on Target
Rounding off our 16/1 Bet Builder for Sunday’s encounter is a selection from the shots on target market. Although the immediate thought may be to select Erling Haaland, it will not provide much value. The Norwegian, who bagged five goals for his national side against Moldova during the international break, has only registered one more shot on target than United’s Bryan Mbeumo, who has looked at home for his new employers since his switch from Brentford.
When looking at the odds on offer in the shots on target market, Haaland is priced at just 1/9 to clear the Over 0.5 line and record one or more in the match. Adding this selection will not increase the odds of our Bet Builder by very much at all, and it’s worth remembering that he blanked and failed to hit the target against Spurs a few weeks ago.
Instead, we like the look of the 8/11 that is available for Mbeumo to record one or more shots on target. The 26-year-old has let off two or more shots in eight of his last nine league appearances. When it comes to hitting the target, he has already done so on four occasions for United this term, and his price is certainly much more palatable here.
