Chelsea and Liverpool meet in the EFL Cup final on Sunday and the Wembley clash could be a defining moment in both clubs’ seasons.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is still in the hunt for four trophies in his final campaign at Anfield, sitting top of the table and remaining in the FA Cup and Europa League.

But the injury-hit Reds face a Chelsea side for whom a cup triumph would ease the pressure on manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Chelsea vs Liverpool team news

Chelsea could name the same line-up that started last weekend’s confidence-boosting Premier League draw at Manchester City, with Levi Colwill and Axel Disasi keeping their places at the heart of the defence.

Veteran centre-back Thiago Silva should be fit for the Blues and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez may return to the squad. Wesley Fofana, Reece James, Benoit Badiashile, Romeo Lavia, Marc Cucurella and Lesley Ugochkwu all remain sidelined.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are assessing the fitness of Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai, who all missed Wednesday’s 4-1 league win over Luton.

The Reds are set to be without goalkeeper Alisson, as well as Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara, so youngster Conor Bradley should start at right-back with Caoimhin Kelleher between the sticks.

Chelsea vs Liverpool predicted line-ups

Chelsea (4-2-3-1): Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Colwill, Chilwell; Caicedo, Fernandez; Palmer, Gallagher, Sterling; Jackson.

Liverpool (4-3-3): Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Endo, Gravenberch; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.
