Tip 1: BUY Total Corners – Newcastle vs PSV Eindhoven (10.9)
Both Newcastle and PSV Eindhoven have seen plenty of goals scored in this Champions League campaign so far and plenty of corners given too.
Newcastle rank joint-fifth for corners taken in the Champions League this season with 36 alongside Atletico Madrid – which averages out at 6 corners per game.
PSV Eindhoven aren’t far behind though – they’ve taken 34 corner kicks so far including nine in their last match against Atletico Madrid – with los Colchoneros earning five corners themselves for a match total of 14.
In their goalless draw with Wolves over the weekend, Newcastle won seven corners and conceded four – a similar outcome at St James’ Park against Lampen this Wednesday night will see you return profit if you buy total corners in the match at 10.9.
How it works
If you stake £10 on buy at 10.9, expecting more than 10.9 total corners, this is how your profit or loss could look come the end of the game.
- If there are 14 corners: You win (14 – 10.9) × £10 = £31 profit
- If there are 9 corners: You lose (10.9 – 9) × £10 = £19 loss
Tip 2: BUY Total Goal Minutes in Bayern Munich vs Union SG (212)
Goals are always forthcoming when Bayern Munich play in the Champions League. Every one of their games so far has seen at least three goals scored, while only PSG and fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have managed more than their total of 18 goals so far.
Union SG have averaged more than one goal per game themselves with seven scored in six outings so far – but the Belgian team have shipped 15 and could be in for a rough ride against this star-studded Bayern attack here.
In the total goal minutes market you want late goals and Bayern’s games have included these so far. All four of the goals in their last outing against Sporting CP were scored in the second half, while at least one goal has been scored after the hour mark in all six of their fixtures so far.
When you study USG’s European fixtures so far, you see that their games average over two second half goals so far this season too. Expect plenty of goals and expect a few late on in the game here.
How it works
This market can swing massively, so we recommend significantly reducing the stake for this bet. You buy at 212 with a £1 stake.
- If goals are scored in the 30th, 65th and 85th minute:
Total goal minutes = 30 + 65 + 85 = 180
You lose (212 – 180) × £1 = £32 loss
- If goals are scored in the 15th, 55th, 78th and 90th minute:
Total goal minutes = 25 + 55 + 78 + 90 = 238
You win (248 – 212) × £1 = £36 profit

Tip 3: BUY Marseille Booking Points – Liverpool vs Marseille (21-24)
Marseille have the joint-worst disciplinary record in the Champions League so far this season alongside Barcelona. 14 yellow cards and one red give them a total of 165 booking points from their six games so far for an average of over 24 per game.
Given that they take on a Liverpool side with plenty of talented attackers capable of drawing fouls, they could be set for another night of disruptive defensive play on Wednesday evening at Stade Velodrome.
Indeed, in their last Champions League game, Liverpool saw opponents Inter Milan shown three yellow cards and l’OM defenders Benjamin Pavard, Leonardo Baledi and Nayef Aguerd (who could miss out having been involved in the Afcon final on Sunday) have all been shown two cards already in this campaign.
Expect the Reds to dominate possession and given the position Marseille find themselves in the table, tensions could be running high and frustration could get the better of the hosts here.
How it works
Yellow cards are worth 10 booking points and red cards are worth 25. If you stake £10 on buy at 24, you’re expecting the total booking points to be higher than 24.
- If the game ends with 20 booking points:
You lose (24 – 20) × £10 = £40 loss - If the game ends with 28 booking points:
You win (28 – 24) × £10 = £40 profit
New to Spread Betting?
The main difference with spread betting is that a punter is given a spread of numbers and will then pick whether what will happen is above or below that spread. The amount of ‘points’ you win or lose is multiplied by your stake.
In regular betting, if you have a £5 bet and it loses, you have lost £5. In spread betting, if you are wrong by 10 points, that is multiplied by your stake, so you are down £50. This is a huge difference and why spread betting has a niche clientele.
Real Madrid vs Pafos might have a total goal spread of 4.25-4.4, given the expected margin of victory for a high-scoring team with home advantage. You sell if you think there will be four goals or less and buy if you’re expecting five goals or more.
The most significant difference is that when you win or lose, your stake is multiplied by how many points the result was on either side of the spread. It’s crucial to understand that, unlike a standard bet, we won’t lose our stake if we get it wrong – we lose it multiplied by how far wrong we were.
But it also works the other way: the more right you are, the more you win. If you bought total goals at 4.4 and the game ends 6–0 (six goals), you don’t just win once, you win for every goal above the spread. In this example, that means (6 – 4.4) × your stake. It’s high-risk, high-reward betting.
