The Champions League draw for the last-16 has been made.

Defending champions Manchester City were drawn against FC Copenhagen while Premier League rivals Arsenal face Porto.

Copenhagen returns to Manchester after locking horns with Man Utd in the last round and having faced Pep Guardiola’s men last season. City were 5-0 winners at home to FCK in last season’s group stage, drawing 0-0 in Denmark in the reverse fixture.

Interestingly, the Gunners’ last round of 16 victory came against Porto in 2009/10, when they overturned a 2-1 first-leg loss in Portugal with a 5-0 home win thanks to Nicklas Bendtner’s hat-trick.

Elsewhere record 14-time European champions Real Madrid meet RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich, now led by Harry Kane, takes on Lazio.

Leipzig and Real Madrid will also be renewing acquaintances having met in last season’s group stage. Carlo Ancelotti’s side won 2-0 at home on Matchday 2 courtesy of late goals from Federico Valverde and Marco Asensio, before the Bundesliga outfit ran out 3-2 winners at home on Matchday 5 thanks to a late Timo Werner goal.

Bayern and Lazio have met twice in the Champions League with both encounters coming in the round of 16 of the 2020/21 season which saw the German powerhouse with both (4-1 in Rome, 2-1 in Munich).

There will be a ‘Derby della Maradona’ with Napoli and Barcelona paired against each other and Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone plays his former club Inter Milan where he spent two seasons, winning the 1997/98 UEFA Cup.

“I know Simeone very well, we were teammates, we are friends. I know how he prepares matches, they will be two great matches between two great teams,” Inter vice-president Javier Zanetti said.

Champions League returnee Real Sociedad, who earned plaudits in the group phase, will be the latest side Paris Saint-Germain must navigate past if they want to win this elusive prize.
