Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Qatar team news and predicted lineups

Bosnia-Herzegovina face Qatar in their final Group B fixture at the 2026 World Cup. Kick-off is 8pm (UK time) on Wednesday 24th June at Seattle Stadium, and should be a pivotal one as both sides have a chance of qualifying for the knockout phase with a win.

Sergej Barbarez’s Bosnia-Herzegovina side come into the game with just a single point after a draw with Canada and a 4-1 loss to Switzerland in their opening two matches. Defensive lapses have proven costly despite periods of encouraging attacking play. They now look to register their first win of the tournament which could see them progress to the round of 32 based on other tallies elsewhere.

Qatar also head into their final group game without a win, having struggled to impose themselves against higher-ranked opposition. Julian Lopetegui’s side showed even less attacking intent in their second outing, receiving two red cards and being hit for six by Canada. A first World Cup victory would provide a morale-boosting end to a difficult campaign, and could even result in progression to the knockout phase if they’re fortunate enough.

Bosnia-Herzegovina and Qatar have never previously met in a competitive senior international match. Wednesday’s fixture in Seattle is the first ever World Cup meeting between the two nations.

Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Qatar team news

Bosnia-Herzegovina team news

The Dragons are expected to rotate slightly after just one point from their opening two matches, though the core of the side should remain intact for their final group game. Ibrahim Sehic is set to continue in goal behind a back four that will be focused on tightening up after failing to keep a clean sheet in both matches so far.

Sead Kolasinac is expected to start at left-back, with Dennis Hadzikadunic and Ermin Bicakcic likely to continue in central defence. The right-back spot could see a change, with Amir Hadziahmetovic an option if Petev opts for greater balance.

In midfield, Amer Gojak and Benjamin Tahirovic are expected to provide energy and defensive cover, while Miralem Pjanic operates in a deeper creative role, looking to dictate tempo and supply the forwards.

Up front, Edin Dzeko will spearhead the attack, supported by Amar Dedic and Haris Duljevic in wider areas, both of whom offer direct running and work rate in transition.

Qatar team news

Julen Lopetegui is expected to make enforced changes after a difficult second group game that saw both Homam Ahmed and Assim Madibo sent off, leaving Qatar with additional selection headaches in midfield. Saad Al Sheeb is set to continue in goal behind a back line that has been heavily tested throughout the tournament.

Pedro Miguel and Bassam Al Rawi are expected to remain in central defence, with Qatar likely forced into a more conservative structure in midfield due to suspensions. Akram Afif will once again be central to their attacking threat, operating in a free role between the lines, while Almoez Ali leads the line as the focal point of the attack.
