Leeds v Tottenham predicted XIs: Team news as Conte ponders future
Leeds will be looking to distance themselves from the relegation zone when they host Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday at 12:30pm (UK time).
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are just three points clear of 18th-placed Burnley and have played two games more than the Clarets. In fact, Leeds have also played more games than the other two teams directly below them, Everton and Newcastle, and are winless in their past five league matches. Things aren’t much better for Tottenham though, with Antonio Conte’s side managing just one win from their past five matches, losing four including 1-0 to Leeds’ relegation rivals Burnley in midweek.

Leeds team news vs Tottenham: Diego Llorente return a boost for Bielsa
- Ins: Diego Llorente
- Outs: Patrick Bamford, Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper, Leo Fuhr Hjelde
- Doubts: Robin Koch
Robin Koch is a doubt for Leeds after suffering a head injury in their defeat to Manchester United last weekend. Koch’s injury lead to calls from the PFA for temporary substitutions to take place for head injuries after Koch was allowed on play on before eventually going down. In a statement released after the game, Leeds revealed that they would be following concussion protocol which ruled Koch out of the Liverpool defeat and may keep him out again here.
Definitely absent for Leeds are Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, Leo Fuhr Hjelde and Patrick Bamford, with the latter still suffering from a foot injury. But Diego Llorente could return, which would be a big boost for Leeds’ struggling defence.
Predicted Leeds XI vs Tottenham:
- Meslier; Ayling, Llorente, Struijk, Firpo; Klich, Dallas; Raphinha, Rodrigo, Harrison; James. (4-2-3-1)
Tottenham team news vs Leeds: Will Conte switch up his XI?
- Ins: Oliver Skipp, Japhet Tanganga
- Outs: None
- Doubts: Rodrigo Bentancur
Tottenham have one of the freshest squads in the Premier League and are expected to be able to call upon Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tangaga. However, neither player is guaranteed to start on their return to the squad. But Tottenham will be sweating on the fitness of Rodrigo Bentancur, who had to come off at half-time at Turf Moor after falling awkwardly.
Tottenham have a pretty fresh squad and could welcome Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga back into the fray, though neither may start. The big question for Conte is whether he will look to make changes from the team that lost to Burnley. Speaking after the defeat, Conte hinted very heavily that he wasn’t happy with some of his players – pointing out that they have been the constant while various managers have tried and failed to turn things around at Tottenham.
“It is not only tonight, in the last five games we lost four games. It means there will be an assessment about the club, about me,” Conte told Sky.
“For me it is very frustrating to lose four games in five. For sure the situation is this, the situation is clear. I am really sorry for the fans because they don’t deserve this, but when you lose four games in the last five it means the club has to make an assessment, to speak together to understand what is the best solution.
“The players are always the same, the club has changed the coaches, but the players are always the same and the results don’t change.
“I repeat, I am too honest to accept this type of situation and for sure we will make an assessment with the club. It is not right, not good everybody to continue to lose. I can’t accept this, it is not good for no one.”
