Premier League stats and records you might see in the midweek Gameweek 33 matches

We’ve got a midweek Premier League treat with six clubs in action in an extended special of the stats and records you might see in Gameweek 33.

Manchester City head to Burnley knowing a win would send them above Arsenal at the top of the table. Chelsea travel to Brighton desperate to avoid a fifth straight defeat, while the other south coast clash sees two in-form sides – Bournemouth and Leeds – go head-to-head.

Here’s the best of the potential stats from these three games:

Chelsea close to 1912 low

  • Chelsea could lose five successive Premier League matches for the first time since 1993, while they could lose five league games without scoring for the first time since 1912.

Chelsea, 6th, head into Tuesday’s trip to Brighton having managed just one league win in their last eight matches since early February. Their top-five finish odds have subsequently drifted to 5/1, and they now risk losing five straight league games for only the second time in the Premier League era – and the first since a run of six defeats in October-November 1993.

The last time Chelsea lost five consecutive league matches without scoring dates back to 1912, something they will be desperate to avoid.

Brighton, 9th, rescued a late point at Tottenham to move within one point of Chelsea. A fourth straight win in all competitions over the Blues would soar the Seagulls into 6th, while boss Fabian Hurzeler is aiming to extend his unbeaten Premier League record against English managers to 10 matches (W7 D2).

Leeds chase 1970s away streak

  • Leeds could go nine games unbeaten on the road in all competitions for the first time since 1978-79.

Bournemouth and Leeds are both in fine form heading into their south coast clash on Wednesday night. The Cherries are enjoying a club record 13 Premier League without defeat, while Leeds have surged eight points clear of the drop zone following back-to-back wins over Man Utd and Wolves.

Bournemouth have drawn a league-high 15 games this season and could record five consecutive home draws for the first time since 1967.

Leeds, meanwhile, are chasing a sixth straight Premier League away game without defeat for the first time since 2001, and could go nine games unbeaten on the road in all competitions for the first time since 1978-79.

City eye the summit

  • Manchester City are gunning for a 15th consecutive win over Burnley in all competitions; a result that would send Pep Guardiola’s side top for the first time since August.

The task for Manchester City on Wednesday is simple: win away to Burnley and they will leapfrog Arsenal into top spot with five games remaining.

City have won all of the last 11 league games between the sides and if they avoid defeat this week they will have gone 30 successive games without defeat against promoted sides.

Erling Haaland will be looking to continue his hot streak in this fixture, having scored seven goals in four appearances against Burnley in all competitions, which equates to a goal every 36 minutes.

The outlook is bleak for Burnley, who have just one win in their last 33 league and cup games against City stretching back to 1974. The Clarets are also winless in their last 12 home league matches since mid-October.

Man City vs Arsenal stats & analysis: Bernardo Silva stars as Pep's men deliver title hammer blow

Note: nine of the following 10 matches below have already taken place in gameweek 33:

Brentford the stalemate specialists

  • Brentford could draw five successive league games for the first time since March/April 1957.

Brentford and Fulham get us underway on Saturday lunchtime when they lock horns at the Gtech Community Stadium. The Bees, 7th, can jump above Chelsea – until the evening at least – with three points, while a win would move the Cottagers into the top-10.

Brentford’s recent form consists of a diet of draws. Four in a row to be precise. If Saturday’s clash ends all-level, it will be the club’s fifth successive league draw for the first time since March/April 1957.

Wolves on the brink

  • Wolves will be relegated this weekend if they lose at Leeds, and Tottenham beat Brighton.

Leeds boosted their survival hopes with a first league win at Old Trafford in 45 years and now they return home to face basement club Wolves, who they’ve beaten in each of the last four Premier League matches: only against Sunderland (6), Tottenham Hotspur (6) and West Ham (5) have they enjoyed longer winning runs in the competition.

Leeds, who are the only club yet to win consecutive Premier League games this season, are chasing back-to-back top-flight wins for the first time since 2022, but must improve at Elland Road, where they’ve failed to score in their last three league games; something they haven’t stretched to four home blanks in a row since 1982.

For Wolves, relegation to the Championship will be confirmed this weekend if they lose and Tottenham beat Brighton later on Saturday. Regardless, they’re set to become just the fourth side to spend 30+ consecutive matches bottom of the Premier League table, after Swindon Town (39), Portsmouth (34) and Sheffield United (31).

Howeler

  • If Newcastle lose to Bournemouth they will have suffered eight defeats in 11 Premier League games since 25th January – more than any other side.

Bournemouth announced that their manager Andoni Iraola will depart at the end of the season and one of their former managers, Eddie Howe, has been touted as a possible replacement. By chance, the two bosses lock horns at St James’ Park on Saturday, with Howe desperate for the win to ease the pressure following a run of seven defeats in 10 league games. If they lose again they will have lost more games (8) than any other side since 25th January 2025.

Bournemouth are enjoying a club record run of 12 Premier League games without defeat and haven’t lost to Newcastle in seven games, while they could win away to the Toon for a fourth time in the Premier League, which would be their joint-most on the road in the competition alongside Wolves.

Seagulls flying, Spurs falling

  • Tottenham could lose five straight Premier League home games for the first time since 1994.

Roberto De Zerbi’s first home Premier League game in charge of Brighton was against Tottenham (which he lost). His first home Premier League game in charge of Tottenham is against former club Brighton on Saturday. It’s the first time in Premier League history that a manager’s first home game in charge of two clubs has been the same fixture.

Tottenham remain the only Premier League side without a win in 2026, having gone a staggering 14 games (D5 L9) since their last victory. Spurs lost their opening game under new boss De Zerbi, which dropped the club in the relegation zone with just six games to go, and another defeat this weekend at home to Brighton would make it five straight league home defeats for the first time since February 1994.

In contrast, Brighton are flying, barging their way into the conversation for European places following a superb run of five wins in six: picking up the most points (15) in the league during this run. The Seagulls, who thrashed Spurs 4-1 away on the final day of last season, will now be targeting their fourth successive Premier League away win for the first time in their history.

Fernandes-Casemiro chase club record

  • Another assist from Bruno Fernandes for Casemiro would make it seven between the pair – a new Manchester United club record for most assists to a single teammate in a Premier League season.

Pressure is mounting on Liam Rosenior at Chelsea, with a win badly needed at home to top-5 rivals Manchester United this weekend. Since the start of March, no side in Europe’s big five leagues has lost more games in all competitions than Chelsea (6 in 9), and they could suffer four straight league defeats for only the second time this century.

Man United were stunned at home by Leeds on Monday, but the familiar link between Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro delivered again. Fernandes has now set up the Brazilian six times this season, and another would set a new club record for most assists from one player to a single teammate in a Premier League campaign.

Meanwhile, Fernandes continues to chase down the record for most assists in a season, with his tally of 17 now just three behind the joint-record of Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne (20).

Emery’s niche unbeaten record

  • Unai Emery could extend his Aston Villa record to 20 Premier League games without a defeat against newly promoted teams (currently W14 D5).

Aston Villa ended the 2025 with a stunning return of 12 wins from 14 Premier League games, but have since won just four of 13 in 2026. However, they have a seven point cushion in the top-5 ahead of Chelsea (6th) and have only lost once in their last 13 league games against Sunday’s opponents Sunderland.

In fact, Aston Villa have never lost to a newly promoted team in the Premier League under Unai Emery, who has accumulated 14 wins and five draws in these fixtures; an unbeaten record he will be looking to stretch to 20 this weekend.

Liverpool eye stadium milestone

  • Liverpool could become the first club to win at 60 different Premier League grounds. The Reds have won at 59 of the 61 stadiums they’ve played at, with the exceptions being Bloomfield Road and Kenilworth Road.

Everton and Liverpool clash in the first Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. The Toffees will be looking to mark the occasion with a win, although history tells us this might be hard to come by given that they have won just five of their last 52 league games against Liverpool in the 21st century.

Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from their Champions League exit by claiming a third straight Merseyside derby win in the top-flight for the first time since 2017. If the Reds do win, they will become the first club to triumph at 60 different Premier League grounds: Bloomfield Road and Kenilworth Road are the only two grounds they’ve played at that they haven’t yet won.

Pereira’s puncture

  • Vítor Pereira could become the first manager in English top-flight history to lose twice at home to a newly promoted team in the same season.

If Nottingham Forest, 16th and three points above the drop zone, are to stay up this season then you feel Sunday’s clash at home to Burnley, 19th, is a game they really have to win.

However, their boss Vitor Pereira has already lost at home to Burnley this season when he was in charge of Wolves. He will be determined to avoid becoming the first manager in English top-flight history to lose twice at home to a newly promoted team in one season. Meanwhile, the last manager to lose two home games against an opponent in a season was Frank Lampard (2022-23).

It only seems a matter of time until Burnley’s fate is sealed, but they can at least draw on an encouraging record in this fixture, having lost just one of their last eight league games against Forest, albeit seven have been draws.

Arteta’s domestic rut

  • Mikel Arteta could lose four successive domestic matches for the first time in charge of Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger the last Gunners boss to suffer this fate back in March-April 2018.

Manchester City take on Arsenal at the Etihad in the biggest match of the Premier League season. Arsenal’s lead at the summit has been trimmed to just six points, while chasing City could gobble up that advantage with a win on Sunday and then another win in their game in hand at Burnley next week.

Man City have won 29 of their last 32 Premier League games in April and have lost just one of their last 19 Premier League matches since 22nd November 2025. City also boast an impressive record at home in this fixture, having gone 10 games unbeaten against Arsenal (W7 D3) since January 2015.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are on a difficult run domestically after Carabao Cup final defeat to City, an FA Cup exit to Southampton, and a league loss to AFC Bournemouth. They have never lost four consecutive domestic matches under Mikel Arteta; the last Arsenal boss to do so being Arsene Wenger in March–April 2018.

Arsenal are, however, unbeaten in their last five league games against Man City (W2 D3). They have accrued the most away points (32) this season and haven’t lost on the road in 2026.

Mateta chasing 50

  • If Jean-Philippe Mateta scores two goals against West Ham he will become only the second player to bag 50 Premier League goals for Crystal Palace after Wilfried Zaha (68).

Jean-Philippe Mateta came off the bench to score a brace for Crystal Palace in their 2-1 comeback win at home to Newcastle last weekend.

The striker subsequently elevated his Premier League tally to 48 goals for the club and should he score another two at home to West Ham on Monday night he’d become only the second Palace player to score a landmark 50 Premier League goals for the club after Wilfried Zaha, who scored 68.
