The Champions League returns for gameweek 6 as the league phase starts to heat up.
All six Premier League participants take to the field across Tuesday and Wednesday, including 2022-23 winners Manchester City who travel to 15-time champions Real Madrid for the latest instalment of this very modern rivalry.
Read on for a potential stat you might see from each fixture involving the half-a-dozen English clubs.
Stats you might see
Chelsea’s teen sensation
- If Estevao scores he’ll have more goals for a Premier League club in a single Champions League season than any other teenager in history.
Estevao has been one of the bright sparks of Chelsea’s season, scoring five goals in all competitions, including a dramatic winner against Liverpool and his side’s second in the stunning 3-0 demolition of Barcelona.
In fact, the 18-year-old has scored in his last three Champions League appearances for the club, and a goal against Atalanta on Tuesday would see him set a new record: the most goals scored by a teenager for a Premier League club in a single Champions League season, surpassing Wayne Rooney’s three-goal tally from 2004-05.
On top of that, if Chelsea go on to claim the three points in Italy, it will be their 42nd win in 100 Champions League away matches; the most by any English side after a century of road trips.

Fortress San Siro
- If Inter Milan win or draw they will extend the longest current Champions League unbeaten home run to 19 matches.
Liverpool head to Milan desperate for a spark following Saturday’s manic 3-3 draw against Leeds and the fallout from Mo Salah’s post-match outburst – an incident that will see the Egyptian miss this Champions League clash.
The Reds could be in for another long night anyway as they face an Inter Milan side who have won four of their five matches in the competition this season. On top of that, Inter are enjoying an 18-game unbeaten run on home soil – the current best of any team in the competition – 15 of which they’ve won.
Tottenham target 100
- Tottenham’s next goal will be their 100th in the Champions League.
Tottenham got back on track with a much-needed 2–0 win over Thomas Frank’s former side Brentford.
The Champions League has been a mixed bag for Spurs this season with their return of eight points from five games leaving them 16th in the standings. However, they’ve secured two clean-sheet victories on home soil – a 1–0 win over Villarreal and a 4-0 dismantling of Copenhagen – and now host a Slavia Prague side still without a win and with only two goals to their name.
Tottenham head into the game knowing that their next goal will be their 100th in the Champions League and, if Spurs keep Slavia Prague out, they will record four consecutive home clean sheets in the European Cup/Champions League for the first time in their history.
Arsenal 4 from 400
- Arsenal are just four goals away from reaching 400 goals in European Cup/Champions League history.
Arsenal sit top of the league phase with a maximum five points from five games, 14 goals scored, and just the one conceded. They remain the only club with a 100% winning record and thumped Bayern Munich 3-1 last time out.
The Gunners now travel to Belgium where they will be aiming to extend their run to six straight wins when they come up against Club Brugge. Scoring four goals away from home in the Champions League is a tall order, but should Arsenal manage it, they would hit the 400-goal landmark, becoming the 10th team in competition history to do so; provided Ajax (on 397 goals) don’t hit three away to Qarabag earlier in the evening.

Pep’s kryptonite?
- Pep Guardiola could go five games without a win against Real Madrid for the first time.
The glamour clash of the gameweek comes at the Bernabeu, where Real Madrid go head-to-head against Manchester City for the fifth season in succession.
Man City manager Pep Guardiola come up against Real Madrid a whopping 27 times in his career, of which he’s won 13, drawn seven, and lost 7. However, Guardiola has failed to win any of the last four encounters against Los Blancos and has never gone five in a row without beating them.

Czech mate
- Patrik Schick can become only the second Czech player to score in three successive Champions League games.
Bayer Leverkusen and Newcastle are both in striking distance of the top eight, with the Toon just one point behind and Leverkusen two points off.
Newcastle’s run of three consecutive wins was halted by Marseille in their last match, while Leverkusen enter this fixture on the back of two successive victories.
Patrik Schick scored in both of Leverkusen’s wins against Benfica and Manchester City, now the striker aims to become only the second ever Czech player – after Jan Koller in 2002-03 – to score in three consecutive Champions League games.
