2. Timothy Castagne

The Belgian also played further up the pitch, though generally in right-sided defensive roles. He sat in the 95th percentile among above for his ground duel success rate at 65.85% and his last-man tackles. The Belgian also ranked well for his 3.18 clearances and 1.51 interceptions per 90.
1. Jurrien Timber

- Team: Arsenal
- Squawka Score: 75%
When judging the Premier League’s best right-back of the season, you can’t really look past Jurrien Timber. The Dutchman ranked well in both defensive and offensive metrics, sitting in the best percentiles for his 3.33 touches in the opposition box, 0.2 non-penalty xG and only 0.33 challenges lost. He was also part of a defence that very rarely conceded goals. Timber can do it all.
How do Squawka ratings work?
Squawka’s new player rating system is completely stats-based. Player scores are based on the numbers they put up across a range of on-ball events, from goals scored to tackles won.
Using extensive research and our expertise, we tailored each score to the players’ respective positions. For example, forwards are rated on metrics like shots on target, touches in the opposition box and big chances created. Meanwhile, centre-backs are rewarded for winning aerial duels, making blocks, successful long-range passes and so on.
