Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid: Stats, predictions and predicted line-up
Kylian Mbappe is finally a Real Madrid player.
After doing the dance for some years, Los Blancos and arguably the best player on the planet right now have finally teamed up. Given the Frenchman joins the reigning European champions, fresh from winning their sixth Champions League title in 11 years, that’s a terrifying thought.
So, with the transfer saga of the summer already concluded, it’s time to look ahead to how things could look for Mbappe at Real Madrid. How will the Spanish giants incorporate him into their already formidable line-up and what could Mbappe achieve at the Santiago Bernabeu?

Three ways Real Madrid could line up with Mbappe and Endrick
1. Mbappe’s way
Real Madrid have just completed the double, going unbeaten in the entire Champions League campaign and losing just once in La Liga all season to finish 10 points clear of Barcelona. They really don’t need to do much in terms of strengthening.
The most likely way Carlo Ancelotti will accommodate Mbappe is to take out a midfielder and place his new talisman in the No.9 position, moving away from the fluid front three that served him so well this season. That front three will then operate behind Mbappe and complete what is arguably the most terrifying attacking quarter ever.
We’re having a bit of a meltdown just looking at this line-up, so pray to your respective gods for any defenders that actually have to try and deal with it.
2. The upgrade
Of course, you’d forgive Ancelotti for being hesitant to move away from a system that’s just won him such a dominant double. In that case, Mbappe will simply be the upgrade for Rodrygo to play alongside and interchange with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr as the trio pleases.
Yes, you read that correctly. Upgrading on Rodrygo. The same Rodrygo that just hit 15 goals and eight assists in La Liga and the Champions League alone in 2024/25.
3. Squad depth
Don’t forget, Mbappe isn’t the only exciting addition Real Madrid are making to their attack this summer. Los Blancos already have their latest Brazilian wonderkid coming through the door in Endrick who, at just 17 years old, already arrives with 21 goals in 82 games for Palmeiras and two goals in four senior caps for Brazil to his name.
Endrick will not be here to make up the numbers or lay the foundations for future seasons. He’ll want to contribute right away. Which makes us think of the incredible squad depth Real Madrid will boast next season even if they only sign Mbappe and Endrick.
Andriy Lunin, Luka Modric and Rodrygo are just a few of the names they could rotate in, not to mention Turkish wonderkid Arda Güler.
Three predictions for Kylian Mbappe’s first season at Real Madrid
1. Mbappe to win the Ballon d’Or
Probability: 7.7%
Odds: 12/1 with Sky Bet
As it stands, Mbappe is an outsider when it comes to the Ballon d’Or race. New teammates Vinicius Jr and Bellingham are the two favourites thanks to their exploits in the Champions League this season and if either can bring that form into their respective national team tournaments this summer, it could see them take the crown.
Of course, Mbappe has incredible pedigree at international level with World Cup and UEFA Nations League medals under his belt — as well as another World Cup final. There’s every chance he goes on a tear in Germany this summer and that, combined with hitting the ground running in Madrid, could tip the scales.
2. Another La Liga and Champions League double
Probability: 16.7%
Odds: 5/1 with Bet365
Adding Mbappe (and Endrick) to a squad that dominated so thoroughly last season is just unfair. Already, bookies believe there’s a 16.7% chance that this added firepower will help them to another double. If anything, those feel like long odds, with a treble perhaps a more realistic prospect.
3. La Liga Golden Boot
As of yet, we don’t have any odds on Kylian Mbappe winning the Golden Boot in Spain. However, this is a player leaving PSG with six consecutive Golden Boot awards between 2019 and 2024. Scoring goals is just what he does.
If Mbappe does finish top of the pile in 2024/25, he’ll be just the second Real Madrid player to do so (alongside Karim Benzema in 2021/22) since Cristiano Ronaldo last took the award in 2014/15.
The Kylian Mbappe stats that should excite Real Madrid supporters
The first place to start when giving a statistical introduction of Mbappe to Real Madrid supporters simply has to be his ridiculous final third output. The 25-year-old leaves PSG with 351 direct goal involvements in 308 appearances across all competitions. That’s 256 goals and 95 assists, to be precise. It’s no wonder he’s mopped up 15 trophies and individual awards in buckets.
If that’s not enough to whet the appetite, then feast your eyes on these:
- Kylian Mbappe is one of just six players to win the World Cup Golden Boot and finish as the top goalscorer in a European Cup/Champions League campaign.
- Kylian Mbappe has been directly involved in 462 goals across 445 senior appearances for club & country, averaging a goal or assist once every 73.3 minutes.
- Kylian Mbappe was the only player to have 100+ touches in the opposition box in the Champions League in 2023/24.
- Kylian Mbappe has now scored the same amount of Champions League goals as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Andriy Shevchenko (48). Only eight players in Champions League history have more.
- Only Cristiano Ronaldo (23 in 39 games) has scored more away goals in the knockout rounds of the Champions League than Kylian Mbappe (15). The Frenchman has done it in 12 games.
And let’s not forget Mbappe’s new partner in crime, Vinicius Jr, with the pair in the top two for most goals/assists, most big chances created, most take-ons completed and most touches in the opposition box in the Champions League since the start of the 2021/22 season. Mbappe has scored the most goals (21) and taken the most shots (104), while Vinicius Jr has provided the most assists (15).
