5. Ola Aina
- Team: Nottingham Forest
- Squawka Score: 68%
Ola Aina is currently ranked among the top five right-backs, which is impressive considering he began the season as Nottingham Forest’s left-back. After playing the first three games in that position, Aina transitioned to the right side, where he has consistently performed well, particularly in terms of clearances and winning possession in the defensive third.
4. Kenny Tete
- Team: Fulham
- Squawka Score: 69%
Kenny Tete, the unassuming Fulham right-back, has been ever-present this season (only failing to play 30 minutes) while playing an excellent role in supporting Alex Iwobi. Though he’s not made a single attacking contribution, Tete reads the game well, registering 1.97 interceptions per 90, which ranks him first among all Premier League right-backs.
3. Rico Lewis
- Team: Man City
- Squawka Score: 69%
Rico Lewis will one day find himself regularly playing in central midfield. But, for now, he is Pep Guardiola’s go-to at right-back while having the license to drift into the middle third and beyond, with no other right-back in the Premier League registering more touches in the opposition box (3.85 per 90). But he pays attention to his primary duties having made 0.23 last-man tackles per 90, which is bettered only by Kieran Trippier (0.32).
2. Trent Alexander-Arnold
- Team: Liverpool
- Squawka Score: 75%
Trent Alexander-Arnold excelled in 2023/24 in the new role he was given by now former manager Jurgen Klopp. The 25-year-old had made more successful passes into the final third than any other outfield player before his injury in February, also playing the joint most through balls of any player in that time.
Since 2017/18, TAA is the only defender to create 100+ chances in the Premier League, also leading defenders for the most passes into the opposition box, the most big chances created, the most assists and the most goals from outside the box. He also has the joint most assists by a defender in Premier League history, level with teammate Andy Robertson on 59 and still holds the record for the most assists ever provided by a defender in a single Premier League campaign (13).
So far in the 2024/25 season, he has averaged 10.22 final third entries per 90, with an expected assists per 90 of 0.31, both of which are the highest among all Premier League right-backs.
1. Pedro Porro
- Team: Tottenham
- Squawka Score: 75%
Pedro Porro has been a significant attacking threat for Tottenham since joining from Sporting CP. He has scored seven goals and provided ten assists in 50 Premier League appearances. His performance has improved as an inverted full-back with the freedom to attack at will under Ange Postecoglou. He is currently ranked first among all Premier League right-backs for successful passes into the penalty area per 90 minutes (1.44).
He finished the 2023/24 league season as one of only two defenders, alongside Kieran Trippier, to be directly involved in 10+ goals. He also became the first-ever Tottenham defender to provide seven assists in a single Premier League campaign.

How do Squawka ratings work?
Squawka’s new player rating system is completely stats-based. Player scores are based on the numbers they put up across a range of on-ball events, from goals scored to tackles won.
Using extensive research and our expertise, we tailored each score to the players’ respective positions. For example, forwards are rated on metrics like shots on target, touches in the opposition box and big chances created. Meanwhile, centre-backs are rewarded for winning aerial duels, making blocks, successful long-range passes and so on.
