Who are the Premier League’s best right-backs right now? 2024-25 ranking so far

Who’s the best right-back in the Premier League right now?
Trent Alexander-Arnold has provided more assists than any other right-back in the Premier League this season, with six, one ahead of Pedro Porro.
But, of course, right-backs must still fulfil the defensive side of the game too. That’s why our Squawka Score rating system factors in other statistical categories, such as success in ground duels, challenges lost, tackles won and interceptions.
With the 2024-25 season approaching its climax, the best-performing right-back in the Premier League by Squawka Score is Alexander-Arnold. Porro comes in at second, with Daniel Munoz, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Kenny Tete completing the top five.
- Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) – 77%
- Pedro Porro (Tottenham) – 73%
- Daniel Munoz (Crystal Palace) – 73%
- Aaron Wan-Bissaka (West Ham) – 70%
- Kenny Tete (Fulham) – 70%

NB: Only players with at least half of the possible minutes across the season under their belts are considered.

5. Kenny Tete
- Team: Fulham
- Squawka Score: 70%
Kenny Tete, the unassuming Fulham right-back, was almost ever-present this season while playing an excellent role in supporting Alex Iwobi, missing just 174 minutes until picking up an injury ahead of matchweek 17. He’s registered two assists, but it’s defensively where Tete shines. He reads the game well, registering 1.99 interceptions per 90, which ranks him first among Premier League right-backs with at least 500 minutes played.
4. Aaron Wan-Bissaka
- Team: West Ham
- Squawka Score: 70%
This is a name you might not have expected to see. But Aaron Wan-Bissaka has not only been one of the best right-backs in the Premier League this season, he’s been West Ham’s top player. As always, Wan-Bissaka is strong defensively, winning 61.46% of his ground duels — placing him third among all Premier League right-backs. He’s also lost just 0.22 challenges per 90 and made 1.81 interceptions.
3. Daniel Munoz
- Team: Crystal Palace
- Squawka Score: 73%
Daniel Munoz has actually been a brilliant attacking force for Crystal Palace, notching three goals and four assists so far this season, while averaging 3.11 touches in the opposition box per 90 minutes – placing him second among all Premier League right-backs. However, the Colombian is also a very capable defender, averaging 2.34 tackles won, 2.49 clearances and 1.19 interceptions per 90 minutes, which puts him in the 95th, 80-95th and 60-80th percentiles, respectively.
2. Pedro Porro
- Team: Tottenham
- Squawka Score: 73%
Pedro Porro has been a significant attacking threat for Tottenham since joining from Sporting CP. The Spaniard has been directly involved in 23 goals in 78 Premier League games, and is a constant threat in the opposition box. This season, Porro has averaged 4.15 passes into the final third completed per 90, in the 80-95th percentile among full-backs. But Porro has grown defensively too. He’s averaged 1.66 tackles won per 90 alongside 0.04 last-man tackles and 1.1 shots blocked.
1. Trent Alexander-Arnold
- Team: Liverpool
- Squawka Score: 77%
It was once said that Trent Alexander-Arnold couldn’t defend; that he was only good for attacking the box. He’s proving everyone wrong this season. The Englishman has been the standout right-back in the Premier League, excelling in both defence and attack.
In terms of attack, Alexander-Arnold is still producing at his top level. He’s averaged 0.28 Expected Assists per 90, 7.84 passes into the final third completed per 90 and 1.79 successful passes into the penalty area per 90. These all place Alexander-Arnold in the 95th percentile and above among full-backs. Defensively, Alexander-Arnold also ranks well for tackles won at 1.96 per 90, has 1.25 interceptions per 90 and only conceded 0.88 goals per 90.

How do Squawka ratings work?
Squawka’s new player rating system is completely stats-based. Player scores are based on the numbers they put up across a range of on-ball events, from goals scored to tackles won.
Using extensive research and our expertise, we tailored each score to the players’ respective positions. For example, forwards are rated on metrics like shots on target, touches in the opposition box and big chances created. Meanwhile, centre-backs are rewarded for winning aerial duels, making blocks, successful long-range passes and so on.
