Expectations around Chelsea were high after their summer spending spree, but things didn’t click under Frank Lampard and now Thomas Tuchel has the reins.
The Blues added star quality to their squad over the summer, strengthening across the pitch with Chelsea looking to build on the fourth-placed finish of last season. While they still aren’t confirmed in the top four, Chelsea have reached the FA Cup and Champions League finals under Tuchel.
Despite all the arrivals Chelsea remain a 4.5-star team on FIFA for the second year running and have suffered at points in the season. But how exactly has this impacted their squad on FIFA 21?
We’ve got you covered. Read on for Chelsea’s FIFA 21 player ratings and stats in full.

Chelsea’s FIFA 21 ratings: Goalkeepers
One position in which Chelsea needed to strengthen last summer was the goalkeeper, with Kepa Arrizabalaga still struggling for form and confidence between the sticks. The Blues brought Senegalese shot-stopper Edouard Mendy in from Rennes and he has impressed, taking his initially rating up to 80, one higher than Arrizabalaga who has now dropped five from FIFA 20. Caballero completes the set on 75.
Chelsea goalkeeper ratings for FIFA 21: Edouard Mendy (80), Kepa Arrizabalaga (79), Willy Caballero (75).
Chelsea’s FIFA 21 ratings: Defenders
Chelsea also strengthened their defence over the summer, bringing in the experienced head of Thiago Silva. And the Brazilian sails in as the club’s highest-rated defender on FIFA 21 with an overall of 85. This is a drop of three from his initial FIFA 20 rating but is still enough to see him two ahead of Cesar Azpilicueta. There’s then a drop of two to the next closest players, including new left-back Ben Chilwell and Silva’s fellow centre-back Kurt Zouma. Highly-rated right-back Reece James comes in with an overall of 80.
Chelsea defender ratings for FIFA 21: Thiago Silva (85), Cesar Azpilicueta (83), Ben Chilwell (81), Antonio Rudiger (81), Kurt Zouma (81), Reece James (80), Marcos Alonso (79), Andreas Christensen (79), Emerson (78), Dujon Sterling (67).
Chelsea’s FIFA 21 ratings: Midfielders
Two of Chelsea’s biggest reinforcements during the transfer window came in midfield, with Kai Havertz and Hakim Ziyech signed from Bayer Leverkusen and Ajax respectively. Ziyech was the first Blues signing to be announced after their transfer ban, confirmed as early as February, and he brings an 85 rating and five-star skill moves to Stamford Bridge. Havertz, whose potential of 93 is one of the highest in the game, is two lower at 83. But N’Golo Kante remains undefeated at the top with a rating of 88, Chelsea’s best player in FIFA 21.
Chelsea midfielder ratings for FIFA 21: N’Golo Kante (88), Hakim Ziyech (85), Kai Havertz (83), Mateo Kovacic (83), Jorginho (83), Mason Mount (81), Charly Musonda (72), Billy Gilmour (71), George McEachran (59), Tino Anjorin (58).

Chelsea’s FIFA 21 ratings: Forwards
Finally the forwards, where another big summer signing was made in the form of Timo Werner. Chelsea weren’t really blessed for star forwards in FIFA 20, with Willian their highest rated at 82, but he left to join Arsenal. Werner, understandably then, has become Chelsea’s highest-rated forward with an overall of 84, their best in-game striker for some time (though he hasn’t hit the ground running in front of goal in the real world). There has also been a boost for Christian Pulisic to 81, but Tammy Abraham remains a 78.
Chelsea forward ratings for FIFA 21: Timo Werner (84), Christian Pulisic (81), Olivier Giroud (79), Tammy Abraham (78), Callum Hudson-Odoi (77).
