It is the second grand slam of the year and South African-born British star Cameron Norrie kickstarts his Parisian campaign against Frenchman Manuel Guinard (ranked 146th in the world), fresh from winning the 2022 ATP Lyon Open, which made him the first British man to win a clay court title since 2016.

That certainly bodes well for Roland-Garros, as the 26-year-old looks to better his Third Round finish last year, where he came unstuck against Rafael Nadal in straight sets. Norrie is currently riding the crest of a wave, entering the Parisian showpiece with the highest ranking of his career as the No. 10 seed.

Guinard faces a monumental challenge to navigate past Norrie having entered the French Open as a wildcard candidate, ranking some 136 places behind his competitor on the Court Simonne-Mathieu. The winner takes on New Zealander Jason Kubler in the Second Round, who beat Denis Kudla on Sunday.
