Chelsea and Barcelona have faced off in some classic Champions League ties over the years and we’re set to see another instalment of this European rivalry take place on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s comfortable 0-2 victory over Burnley at the weekend saw them extend their winning run in the Premier League to three games, but they were held against the odds by Azerbaijani outfit Qarabag FK in their last Champions League game.
That draw leaves the Blues with work to do in their remaining games given that they have already dropped points by losing at Bayern Munich in their opening fixture – although they did bounce back from that defeat to beat Benfica and Ajax on home turf.
Next up at the Bridge is a Barcelona side who have a remarkably similar recent record to Chelsea. Blaugrana have won their last three La Liga games including a 4-0 romp over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, but they were held to an unexpected away draw by Club Brugge in their last Champions League match.
Barca, like Chelsea, also find themselves on seven points after four games in the league phase, winning against Newcastle and Olympiakos either side of a home defeat to PSG on October 1st.
