Tottenham remain third in the Premier League table, but the wind has just been knocked from their sails after losing two of their last four games to fellow ‘Big Six’ clubs Arsenal and most recently Manchester United. Newcastle meanwhile are breathing down their necks in sixth and unbeaten in six.
Antonio Conte has kept Spurs fiercely competitive in the Premier League despite the added strain of Champions League football. The north Londoners are currently third and still only four points adrift of table-topping Arsenal (who have a game in hand against Man City), with a win here able to put an eight-point buffer between themselves and Newcastle.
Eddie Howe has been making serene and stable progress in the Tyneside hotseat. Although Newcastle’s backline has been watertight this term, they will struggle to keep a muzzle on Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. The England international has had the second-most shots on target in the Premier League this season (22), while his South Korean counterpart has had the sixth-most (13). On top of that, Kane has been directly involved in eight goals in his last five Premier League appearances against Newcastle (five goals, three assists)
