Brighton v Tottenham team news:
Brighton are still missing long-term absentee Jakub Moder while Moises Caicedo and Enock Mwepu face late fitness tests.
Tottenham manager Antonio Conte is without the injured Dejan Kulusevski and suspended Emerson Royal.
The club is also grieving the loss of fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone, who passed away this week aged 61. Conte, who also worked with Ventrone as a Juventus player in the 90s, cancelled Thursday’s press conference as a mark of respect.
“We are devastated to announce that Gian Piero Ventrone has passed away,” read a statement issued by Tottenham on Thursday morning.
“As lovable off the pitch as he was demanding on it, Gian Piero quickly became a hugely popular figure with players and staff. He will be greatly missed by everyone at the club and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this impossibly sad time.”

Tottenham went into the international break still unbeaten in the Premier League, one of just two sides yet to taste defeat and riding high. They returned to face rivals Arsenal in the North London Derby and confidence was high, at least of not leaving the Emirates with a defeat. However, Tottenham were outclassed by their rivals and eventually lost 3-1 while also finishing the match with 10 men following Emerson Royal’s red card.
Antonio Conte’s side had the perfect opportunity to bounce back in midweek in the Champions League, but they were held to a goalless draw by Eintracht Frankfurt, hitting the target just twice from their 11 shots. And former Tottenham striker Peter Crouch had some damning words for Conte’s tactics, comparing them to the system previously played at Stoke.
“I’ve played this way at Stoke,” Crouch said on BT Sport.
“Tottenham have got enough players to not play this way, I think they can be a little bit more expansive.
“But if you do play this way, you’ve got to get out to people, you’ve got to get out to the ball, it’s got to be more progressive, it’s got to be with more aggression.”
Conte must think quickly about his plans as Brighton will be buoyed by their result against Liverpool last weekend. The Seagulls have been brilliant in the Premier League so far this season but some will have questioned their ability to keep their run going after Graham Potter left for Chelsea. But keep going they have.
In Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge, Brighton took a 2-0 lead over Liverpool and Anfield and eventually held onto a 3-3 draw to keep them in the top four of the Premier League. Brighton barely looked like they were under new management with Leandro Trossard in particular thriving, scoring a hat-trick.

Brighton vs Tottenham match stats
Tottenham may be suffering in attack but they can always bank on Harry Kane. Finding the net against Arsenal at the weekend, Kane became the first ever player to score 100 away goals in the Premier League and has three goals in four matches at the Amex.
However, Tottenham will come under pressure at the back. Conte’s side have faced 127 shots in their eight Premier League matches so far this season, an average of 15.9 per game – their highest on record in a single campaign since at least 2003/04.
