Man Utd vs Ipswich prediction, stats, tips & team news

Manchester United will be looking to turn their Premier League fortunes around when they host Ipswich Town at Old Trafford on Wednesday 26th February at 7:30pm. The Red Devils have been in torrid form under Ruben Amorim and sit closer to the relegation zone than they do the top four. Ipswich are one of the three teams in the relegation zone, currently battling for their Premier League status. This game will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 4.

Both Teams to Score (4/5 with Betfred)

Manchester United are a circus at the moment and have lost seven Premier League home games this season, with five of those coming in Ruben Amorim’s seven in charge. They last lost more at Old Trafford in a single league campaign back in 1962-63 (9).

I fancy Ipswich to get on the scoresheet on Wednesday, however Town have kept just one clean sheet in their last 24 Premier League away games (52 goals conceded in total), drawing 0-0 at Brighton in September. Backing BTTS at 4/5 looks a solid play.

Liam Delap to Score & be Carded (11/1 with Betfair)

There is a little bit of narrative for Liam Delap at Old Trafford with the Ipswich man being a former Manchester City player. Delap leads the charts for Ipswich for both goals and cards this season, finding the net 10 times and being cautioned on eight occasions. This bet has landed three times already in the Premier League this term, against Spurs, Chelsea and Aston Villa.

How both teams go into Man Utd vs Ipswich

Replacing Erik ten Hag with Amorim was meant to be the solution to Man Utd’s problems. While it may be long-term, Amorim has had a baptism of fire as a Premier League manager. The Portuguese tactician has lost eight of his 14 league games in charge, with just four victories alongside two draws. Form at Old Trafford has been particularly worrying too, with Man Utd losing five of their past six home league matches. The only exception was a 3-1 win over relegation-battling Southampton. So they’ll be hoping for similar here.

Ipswich’s long-awaited return to the Premier League hasn’t really gone to plan. The Tractor Boys have lost 15 of their 26 games so far, with just three wins. As a result, they sit in the relegation zone, five points from safety. But form is a problem for Kieran McKenna’s side. Since a shock 2-0 win over Chelsea just before the new year, Ipswich have lost five and drawn two of their seven Premier League matches. They stopped a four-game losing streak against Aston Villa, but suffered a 4-1 loss to Spurs last time out.

Man Utd team news

The injuries have piled up for Man Utd. Amad Diallo has joined Lisandro Martinez in being out for the season, suffering an ankle injury in training. Luke Shaw is out until after the international break, while Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, Jonny Evans are all confirmed absentees.

Ipswich team news

Axel Tuanzebe will be back to face his former club after suspension. But Julio Enciso, Conor Chaplin is a doubt, while Christian Walton is expected to miss out. Chiedozie Ogbene and Wes Burns are out for the season.

Man Utd vs Ipswich head-to-head

Man Utd are unbeaten in their past seven league games against Ipswich, though they’ve only faced off six times in the 21st century. Ipswich held Man Utd to a draw at Portman Road earlier this season.
