Everton vs Liverpool

Everton and Liverpool lock horns in a Premier League clash on Saturday, December 7th, at 12:30pm (UK time), with the match broadcast live on TNT Sports 1.

Ashley Young to be Carded (23/10 BetMGM)

Everton against Liverpool has yielded more red cards than any other fixture in Premier League history, and I’m backing Ashley Young to find his way into the book on Saturday lunchtime. The 39-year-old has been carded in five of the last seven seasons against Liverpool in the top flight and has nine yellows and a red in total against the Reds.

Michael Oliver will be the referee tasked with keeping order on Merseyside and he’s been card-happy in the league this term, with totals in his last eight reading 6,2,6,3,6,2,7,8.

23/10 may not sound like the most glamorous of prices for a player booking, but with ageing legs up against Luis Diaz, I fancy his chances.

Mo Salah to Score & Trent Alexander-Arnold to Assist (6/1 with BetMGM)

Mo Salah has scored in seven consecutive Premier League matches. Only Daniel Sturridge has managed eight in a row for Liverpool, but based on his remarkable form, I’m backing the Egyptian king to do so here. Salah bagged a brace in a thrilling 3-3 draw with Newcastle on Wednesday and now has 13 league goals in total this term, with nine of those coming in his last seven.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was also a key figure in the game against the Magpies. Trent came off the bench in the second half and made an immediate impact, setting up Mo Salah for his first goal of the game. The right-back also set up the second goal of the game, and backing him to do so again, with Salah scoring anytime in the match, pays just 10/3 with Paddy Power, so take the 6/1 with BetMGM.

How both teams go into Everton vs Liverpool

Everton ended a run of five league matches without a win as they beat Wolves 4-0 at Goodison on Wednesday evening. The Toffees had failed to score in four games prior to that win over the Old Gold, and they now sit 15th in the standings, having accrued 14 points. Sean Dyche has lost 12 of his 17 meetings with Liverpool, but the Everton faithful would love to half the Reds title charge on Saturday, and a competitive affair is expected.

After trailing in the match, Liverpool will have been pleased to come away from Newcastle with a point midweek. That was only the third time this season that Arne Slot’s side have dropped points in the Premier League, and they still have a healthy seven point lead at the top of the table. Liverpool are unbeaten in 17 matches across all competitions and have kept a clean sheet in four of their last six.

Everton team news

Tim Iroegbunam, Youssef Chermiti, and James Garner remain unavailable due to their ongoing injuries. Seamus Coleman and Armando Broja are now available, after the latter made his debut from the bench against Wolves on Wednesday.

Liverpool team news

Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota are a doubt, but Alisson, Kostas Tsimikas, Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley are all sidelined.

Everton vs Liverpool head-to-head

Everton broke a five-match winless streak against Liverpool in their last encounter. The Toffees last achieved consecutive victories over their rivals in October 1984, during a stretch where they secured three wins in a row (August 1984-October 1985) against the Reds.
