Crystal Palace vs Brentford prediction, stats, tips & team news

Both Crystal Palace and Brentford will be looking to climb up the Premier League table when they meet at Selhurst Park on Sunday 26th January at 2pm. Both sides are currently in the bottom half of the table, with Palace 12th and Brentford 11th. This London derby will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League and Main Event.

Crystal Palace to Win (21/20 with Sky Bet)

At the end of October, few would have predicted that Crystal Palace could be on course for a second consecutive top-half finish, but since the November international break, Oliver Glasner’s side have been excellent.

Palace have lost just two of their last 14 Premier League matches (W6 D6), having lost three in a row beforehand. From the date of the first game in this 14-match run (27 October), only Liverpool (0) and Arsenal (1) have lost fewer matches.

Only Southampton (2) have picked up fewer points on the road in the Premier League than Brentford (5). Their one away win came against the Saints, and that remains their only victory in their last seven league outings. Palace look a team on the up and backing them at odds against looks a solid proposition.

Mateta to score a goal assisted by Eze (8/1 with Sky Bet)

Jean-Philippe Mateta has scored in his last three Premier League appearances, including a brace last time out against West Ham. The Frenchman looks to be hitting form, just like he did at the back end of last season when he scored eight in 11 appearances, and he can continue his hot streak against the Bees.

Seven of Eberechi Eze’s last eight Premier League assists have been for Jean-Philippe Mateta, while eight of Eze’s overall have come for Mateta. It is the joint most assists for one teammate for Palace, along with Michael Olise’s eight assists for Eze between 2022 and 2024. Backing the duo to fire against Brentford pays 8/1 in the Goalscorer/Assist double market with Sky Bet.

How both teams go into Crystal Palace vs Brentford

After a poor start to the season, Crystal Palace look to be back on track. The Eagles are unbeaten in their past six games across all competitions and sit six points outside the top-half heading into the weekend. Oliver Glasner’s side are 11 points clear of the relegation zone and have impressed in recent weeks with back-to-back 2-0 away wins over West Ham and Leicester.

Brentford, meanwhile, have been an interesting team to watch this season. The Bees have been on top from at home, but sit in the bottom half of the table due to their away form. Brentford have taken just five points from their 10 games on the road this season.

Crystal Palace team news

Adam Wharton and Matheus Franca remain absentees for Crystal Palace, though both are expected back next month. Jefferson Lerma’s availability is uncertain after suffering from illness, while the return date for Cheick Doucoure is uncertain.

Brentford team news

Brentford have been struggling with injuries of late. The Bees are expected to be without Josh Dasilva, Ethan Pinnock, Kristoffer Ajer, Igor Thiago, Gustavo Nunes and Ryan Trevitt for this game.

Crystal Palace vs Brentford head-to-head

Brentford won the most recent meeting between these two sides, and are looking to do the league double over Crystal Palace for the first time since 1962-63. But Crystal Palace won the last game at Selhurst Park.
