How both teams go into Chelsea vs Arsenal
Chelsea will be disappointed in their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle in the EFL Cup but prior to that, Liverpool were the only side to beat them in their last 10 games across all competitions. It’s early days, but Enzo Maresca seems to have genuinely improved the Blues, who are well in the hunt for Champions League qualification.
Things aren’t quite looking as sweet for Arsenal who, though above Chelsea in the table, have taken just a point from their last two Premier League matches, losing 2-0 to Bournemouth before drawing 2-2 at home to title rivals Liverpool. The Gunners trail leaders Manchester City by five points, but that’s by no means an uncatchable lead at this point.
Chelsea team news
Chelsea have two games to play before this match but, at the time of writing, have a fully fit squad to choose from.
Arsenal team news
Arsenal’s fitness outlook isn’t quite as good, with Martin Odegaard, Riccardo Calafiori, Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu all working their way back. Whether any of them will be available for the trip to Stamford Bridge remains to be seen.
Chelsea vs Arsenal head-to-head
As mentioned, Arsenal have won four and drawn one of their last five meetings with Chelsea. The Gunners cruised to a 5-0 victory in their most recent meeting back in April.
