The stats behind our Newcastle vs Brighton predictions:

  • Brighton have failed to score in three of their past five away league games.
  • Newcastle have won three of their past five Premier League home games by at least three goals.
  • Alexander Isak opened the scoring in four of Newcastle’s last five Premier League home matches.

Will Magpies get over the line?

While we are preparing for the penultimate weekend of Premier League action for the 2023/24 season, Newcastle still have three games left to play. And they are in control of their European destiny.

As things stand, the Magpies are sixth, which would be enough to secure a Europa Conference League play-off round spot as EFL Cup winners Liverpool are guaranteed European football. However, they know they cannot afford to let things slip in the final weeks. Newcastle are two points clear of Chelsea and Man Utd in seventh and eighth respectively, who also have three matches left to play. They are in good form right now, winning four of their past five games including each of their past two against Sheffield United and Burnley.

Brighton, meanwhile, are on the beach. They are nine points behind Newcastle with three games left to play, but there are four teams between the two sides, so European football is too far a stretch. The Seagulls were a lot closer to the battle, but they’ve been in terrible form.

Last weekend’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa came as a shock, as it ended a six-game winless streak for Brighton in the Premier League. Although they did face Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City during that run, Brighton did also draw with Burnley and Brentford and lose 3-0 to Bournemouth.

Newcastle vs Brighton match tip

Over 2.5 home goals @ 6/5 by Unibet

On top of their good form, Newcastle have been very goal happy at home of late. The Magpies have scored 23 goals in their past seven home league games, netting at least three on five occasions. Their last two home league games have seen Newcastle win 4-0 and 5-1. Alexander Isak is looking to become just the third player to score in eight consecutive Premier League home games for Newcastle.

Newcastle are odds-on favourites for this one and it’s clear to see why. The Magpies are unbeaten in their past seven home league games since losing back-to-back matches against Nottingham Forest and Manchester City. At the same time, Brighton have won just one of their last 12 away league games with the sole victory coming against Sheffield United.
