A chance for Tottenham to end on a high
Emotions were high when Tottenham were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City in midweek. All the build up to the game was about Tottenham fans and whether they would want to actually win the match. If Tottenham were to beat Man City, it would have put Arsenal on the cusp of the Premier League title. During the game, there were even videos of fans telling Ange Postecoglou to throw the match — which didn’t go down well with the Australian.
In the end, Tottenham did lose, and that was to be expected given their recent run of form. The North London side have lost five of their past six league games, only breaking that run with a 2-1 win over relegated Burnley. In fact, each of their past three victories have come against teams in the bottom four — also beating Luton and Nottingham Forest. So they will be thankful that their final game of the season is against another team at the bottom.
Tottenham need a point against Sheffield United to secure fifth in the league, having seen a top-four finish taken away with their defeat to Man City. And there’s no reason why they can’t end on a victory. Sheffield United are destined to finish bottom of the Premier League this season and will go down as one of the worst in the history of the division.
The Blades have lost 27 of their 37 games this season, and go into this match off the back of six successive defeats. It’s been 13 games since their last victory, beating Luton in February, but they have lost 10 matches since.
Sheffield United vs Tottenham match tip
Half-time/full-time: Sheffield United/Tottenham @ 33/2 with SBK
When these sides met earlier this season, Sheffield United were leading 1-0 until the 98th minute, but managed to lose 2-1. It’s been the story of the Blades’ season — though it hasn’t always been that dramatic. Sheffield United have dropped 26 points from winning positions in the Premier League this season, with only three sides boasting a worse record. On the other side, only Liverpool (28) have gained more points from losing positions in the Premier League this season than Tottenham (25).
Sheffield United vs Tottenham odds
As you’d expect, Tottenham are heavy favourites for this one. Even when you consider home advantage, it’s hard to see Sheffield United ending their season on a high. Instead, this should be a chance for Tottenham to get one final win under their belt and secure a return to the Europa League.

It’s been a rough end to the season for Tottenham on the pitch, and that’s mirrored with their injuries. The likes of Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Timo Werner, Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies are all out.
Timo Werner’s fitness remains up in the air, but Spurs will definitely be without the likes of Ben Davies, Destiny Udogie and Manor Solomon for the rest of the season.
