Aston Villa battled gamely in midweek but had no answer to the firepower of Arsenal suffering a 2-1 loss to the Gunners. The result leaves them in the bottom three with just three points from their opening five.
At Villa Park, the Midlands outfit have played two and won one and lost one with a victory over Everton followed by a defeat to West Ham. Four of the last five here have seen both teams find the back of the net.
Man City continued their emphatic start to their Premier League title defence having hammered Nottingham Forest 6-0 in midweek a result that is even more impressive when you consider Kevin De Bruyne was sitting on the bench for most of it. Erling Haaland is treating Premier League defenders like this is the Bundesliga and has six in his last two and nine for the season already.
Away from the Etihad, City have taken four points this season with a 3-3 draw at Newcastle and a 2-0 opening day success at West Ham. You have to go back to August 2021 for their last road defeat in the league.
Aston Villa vs Man City Match Stats
It is hard to imagine anything other than a Man City victory here given the contrasting way these two sides have started the season. City to win and over 3.5 goals would have paid in nine of their last 12 and looks the bet here.
Erling Haaland has scored nine goals in five matches including six in his last two fixtures which is insane numbers. He should have few problems with an Aston Villa defence that has yet to keep a clean sheet this season. Sky Bet have for some reason seen fit to enhance the price on him to score two or more goals and this is the recommendation.

As mentioned Haaland has made a flying start to life in the Premier League, already on nine goals after just five matches – breaking Mick Quinn and Sergio Aguero’s record of eight. And although in some matches he can be on the periphery, that hasn’t affected how involved he is in front of goal.
Haaland has registered three shots on target in each of his past three Premier League matches and, of course, netted back-to-back hat-tricks against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest. But he’s not alone in terrorising opposition defences at Manchester City. Kevin De Bruyne is known for his assists, but he has also been popping up in front of goal more often lately.
The Belgian has registered two shots on target in two of his last three starts for Man City and with Aston Villa facing 27 shots on target in the Premier League so far this season (the fourth-most in the division) you can expect the visitors to feast.
