Le Havre, rooted to the bottom of Ligue 1, host league leaders Paris Saint-Germain at the Stade Oceane on Friday evening (6.00pm UK time) in a classic mismatch on paper.
Our Le Havre vs Paris Saint-Germain predictions and betting tips swerve the cramped price about a PSG win and dig for value in the manner of it, with the visitors unbeaten on the road and the hosts still searching for a first win of the season.
Premium Tips
Anthony Eadson sidesteps the unbackable PSG price and finds two better angles at the Stade Oceane.
| Premium Tip | Odds | Why we’re backing it |
|---|---|---|
| Paris Saint-Germain to win to nil | 7/5 (Paddy Power) | Backing a straight PSG win is next to worthless at around 1/4, so the value lies in how comfortably they do it. Le Havre have scored just twice in four home games and sit bottom with only eight goals all season, so this is a defence that offers little going forward and a side that rarely threatens at the other end. PSG, meanwhile, are unbeaten away, winning 3-1 at Strasbourg and 1-0 at Brest, and have defended soundly in their better moments. At 7/5, Paris Saint-Germain to win to nil is the smart way into a one-sided fixture. |
| Paris Saint-Germain to win by exactly one goal | 7/2 (bet365) | Le Havre are bottom and still winless, but they have rarely been thrashed. Five of their six league defeats have come by a single goal, including 1-0 losses to Monaco and Lille and a 4-3 defeat at Marseille last time out. PSG have tended to win narrowly on the road too, edging Brest 1-0 and Marseille 2-1, and their last visit to the Stade Oceane in February ended 1-0. With the leaders expected to control the game rather than run riot, PSG to win by exactly one goal stands out at 7/2. |

How Le Havre go into the game
Le Havre go into the weekend bottom of Ligue 1 and still looking for their first win of the campaign. Eight games have brought just two points, both from draws, and 15 goals conceded tells the story of a team under constant pressure. Their last outing was a 4-3 defeat at Marseille that at least showed some fight in attack.
At the Stade Oceane things have been just as tough. Le Havre have lost three of their four home games and scored only twice on home soil, drawing a blank in a 0-0 with Angers and shipping three in a 3-1 loss to Auxerre. Keeping out a PSG side in this mood is a tall order.
How Paris Saint-Germain go into the game
Paris Saint-Germain arrive top of the table and on a roll, having won each of their last five. The champions have 17 points from eight games and, crucially for this one, have yet to lose away from home, winning 11 of a possible 15 on the road while scoring 10 goals on their travels.
A 2-0 home win over Lyon last time out kept the momentum going, and on the road PSG have been just as convincing, winning 3-1 at Strasbourg, 2-1 at Marseille and 1-0 at Brest. Ferran Torres has led the line sharply, and against the division’s bottom side another away victory is the strong expectation.

Paris Saint-Germain have the whip hand in this fixture. Le Havre have never beaten them in six league meetings, losing five and drawing one. The champions won the most recent clash 1-0 at this ground in February.
