Man City vs PSG team news and predicted lineups

Manchester City host Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday at 8pm in a clash of the titans.

Both sides won their opening games of the league phase, but they have had differing starts domestically. Man City remain perfect in the Premier League, winning all six of their games so far. They extended that run with a 3-0 win over Liverpool at the weekend, amid all the off-field drama of their Premier League charges. Enzo Maresca‘s side beat Porto in their Champions League opener and have won eight games in a row across all competitions.

PSG, meanwhile, have won their past three Ligue 1 matches. But it comes after they went winless in their opening three, with two draws and one defeat. Including their 6-1 win over Slovan Bratislava, PSG are now on a four-game winning streak across all competitions. But they have a tough pair of Champions League fixtures, facing Barcelona after their trip to the Etihad Stadium.

These two sides met in the league phase two seasons ago, with PSG running out 4-2 winners in Paris. The French side have won two of the past three meetings, after three Man City wins and two draws from the opening five.

Man City vs PSG team news

Man City team news

Maresca has a fully-fit squad from which to choose for this clash, with Phil Foden available once more. The Englishman missed the win over Liverpool at the weekend through suspension. He’s unlikely to return to the starting lineup, but will be an option from the bench.

Jeremy Doku came off the bench to influence Man City’s win over Liverpool, and could have played his way into their starting lineup. Should he make the cut, Iliman Ndiaye would be the one to drop out. Antoine Semenyo could move over to the right, with Doku on the left, and Rayan Cherki in the No.10. Erling Haaland will lead the line.

There may only be one other change from the starting lineup against Liverpool. Josko Gvardiol could come in at left-back to replace Nico O’Reilly, to offer more defensive solidity. He should completed the usual back line alongside Matheus Nunes, Marc Guehi and Ruben Dias, with Gianluigi Donnarumma behind them.

PSG team news

Luis Enrique remains without Senny Mayulu for the trip to Manchester, but has an otherwise full-strength squad. Ousmane Dembele will be available having been granted a longer rest following the international break, and should go straight back into the starting XI. He’ll be one of a number of changes from the lineup that started the weekend win over Le Mans.

In fact, only three players are likely to keep their places in the starting XI. Matvey Safonov, Achraf Hakimi and Joao Neves all started against Le Mans and are expected to continue in Manchester. Marquinhos and Willian Pacho were both unused substitutes at the weekend but should return to the defence, as should Nuno Mendes, who — like Dembele — was given an extended rest.

Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz are expected to return to the midfield in the place of Lucas Beraldo and Dro Fernandez, joining Neves in midfield. With Dembele leading the line, Ferran Torres will drop to the bench. Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will join the Frenchman, with Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche dropping out.
