Málaga 2026/27 La Liga Preview
Málaga are bottom of La Liga without a win, and three goals in seven games is the lowest total in the division. Juan Funes’ side have drawn three, though – including a goalless afternoon against Levante and 1-1 at Celta de Vigo – and have only been beaten heavily once, 4-0 at Real Madrid.
The goals are shared one apiece between Carlos Ruiz, Carlos Dotor and Adrián Niño, which is the whole problem. Pablo Martínez has taken 22 corners without a return, and Alfonso Herrero has made 28 saves and kept one clean sheet in a busy first season back in the top flight.
Promotion was the achievement; survival is a far harder one. Málaga are not being overrun – 12 conceded is better than four sides above them – but a team scoring at under half a goal a game cannot win matches, and that is the sum of their season so far.
