Dundee welcome Aberdeen to Dens Park on Saturday 8th August at 3pm, with two of last season’s lower-half sides getting Matchday 2 of the new Scottish Premiership campaign underway.
There is not a lot to split these two on last season’s evidence. Dundee finished eighth on 42 points and Aberdeen a place and a point back in ninth on 40, and both leaked goals at a rate that should keep this one lively. We are drawn to the goals markets as a result, and we have found a Kevin Nisbet price we like as well.
You can find the rest of our weekend football tips before kick-off, but for this Dens Park meeting our two headline plays are laid out below.
Premium Tips
Two selections take our eye at Dens Park, and both lean on the same theme: goals. Neither side is built to keep it tight, so we are happy to side with an open, end-to-end afternoon.
| Premium Tip | Odds | Why we’re backing it |
|---|---|---|
| Over 2.5 Goals | 10/11 (with bet365) | Neither of these defences kept things tight last season, with Dundee shipping 61 goals and Aberdeen 55, and the fixture itself has been a goal-fest. Every one of the last five league meetings between the pair has cleared three goals, so at around evens the over looks the play. |
| Kevin Nisbet to score anytime | 2/1 (with Paddy Power) | Nisbet was Aberdeen’s main man in front of goal last season with nine league strikes, and he leads the line against a Dundee side that was picked off far too easily at the back. For a proven finisher up against a defence that conceded 61, 15/8 looks a shade too big. |

How Dundee go into the game
Steven Pressley’s Dundee were a watchable, if leaky, side in 2025-26. They scored 42 goals but conceded a hefty 61 on their way to eighth, a return that tells you plenty about how open their games tend to be at Dens Park.
Simon Murray led the way with seven league goals last term and remains the main source of their threat. The Dark Blues will fancy this one on home soil, too, having won each of their last two league meetings with Aberdeen.
How Aberdeen go into the game
Aberdeen finished a point and a place behind Dundee in ninth, with 40 goals scored and 55 conceded under Stephen Robinson. It was a campaign that never really caught fire, and the Dons will be desperate for a cleaner, sharper start this time around.
Kevin Nisbet was the standout, top-scoring with nine league goals, and he shapes as the obvious focal point again. Aberdeen have enjoyed this fixture in recent years, winning three of the last five meetings, even if the two most recent both went Dundee’s way.

Dundee vs Aberdeen head-to-head
| Date | Home | Score | Away |
|---|---|---|---|
| 17/05/26 | Dundee | 3-2 | Aberdeen |
| 21/02/26 | Aberdeen | 2-3 | Dundee |
| 06/12/25 | Dundee | 1-3 | Aberdeen |
| 05/10/25 | Aberdeen | 4-0 | Dundee |
| 15/02/25 | Dundee | 1-2 | Aberdeen |
Aberdeen hold the edge over the last 10 league meetings, with five wins to Dundee’s three and two drawn. Dundee have flipped the script lately, though, winning the last two on the spin, and only one of the last five head-to-heads has failed to see both teams score.
