Group J at World Cup 2026 sees Argentina begin their campaign to win back-to-back tournaments.
The draw placed Argentina into Group J alongside Austria. Algeria were the third team to be drawn into the group, with debutants Jordan filling out Group J.

World Cup 2026 Group J Fixtures
Group J opens up with a clash between Argentina and Algeria. Austria and Jordan meet later the same night on Wednesday 17th June.
Matchday two sees Argentina and Austria face off in what could be the biggest game of the group. Jordan and Algeria meet in the other fixture in a game that could have a big impact on who finishes third.
The final Group I games take place at the same time on Sunday 28th June. Jordan take on Argentina and Algeria play Austria, with knockout stage qualification on the minds of all four nations.
World Cup 2026 Group J Results
Argentina are the clear favourites to top Group J. There isn’t much to choose from between Austria and Algeria in the betting, with the European side having the slight edge. Jordan are the group outsiders, with odds as big as 66/1 to finish top of Group J.
Argentina might not be the force they were four years ago but they are still, rightly, the favourites to top the group. The nation joining them in the top two is a little harder to determine. Both Austria and Algeria have a decent shout but we’re siding with Austria to have just enough to directly qualify for the Round of 32. Algeria have a decent chance of qualifying in third but we don’t think they have enough to challenge the top two places.
