England look to lay down a marker ahead of the World Cup when they take on New Zealand in Tampa, Florida.
Thomas Tuchel’s side have arrived in the United States already, looking to acclimatise ahead of what could be an exhausting World Cup campaign. They come up against a New Zealand side that don’t have high hopes ahead of the summer’s tournament but will be keen to spring a surprise.
With several players unavailable to Tuchel for this contest, it’ll be interesting to see who lines up for the Three Lions when they take to the field at 9pm (UK time) on Saturday 6th June.
Best Bets & Predictions
Both of these sides look dangerous but recent form, and wider historical data, dictate that Germany should be coming out on top here. We think they could really put a marker down heading into the World Cup and we’re backing them to win both halves at an enhanced price with BOYLE Sports. We also like the look of Deniz Undav to score as he looks to make the striking berth his own this summer.
| Our Prediction | Odds & Bookmaker | Confidence | Why We’re Backing It |
|---|---|---|---|
| Marcus Rashford 2+ Shots On Target | 6/4 @ Betway (40%) | ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Marcus Rashford enters the New Zealand friendly in clinical form, having averaged 2.37 shots per 90 minutes during the 2025/26 La Liga season. His aggressive directness ensures he frequently tests the keeper, and with England expected to dominate possession against a lower-ranked side, he should easily register 2+ shots on target. |
| Correct Score – England To Win 5-0 | 12/1 @ Betway (7.7%) | ⭐⭐ | England to win 5-0 represents a strong value bet given the massive gulf in quality. England average 2 goals per match over their last five, while New Zealand have struggled defensively, conceding 11 goals in their last five outings. With England ranked 81 places higher, their superior attacking depth should overwhelm a vulnerable Kiwi backline. |
Odds correct at the time of writing.
How both sides head into England vs New Zealand
Following a perfect qualifying campaign, which saw them win all eight matches without conceding a goal, England were brought back down to Earth with a bump. A 1-1 draw with Uruguay was followed up by a 1-0 defeat to Japan in friendly matches. They will need to bounce back and restore confidence, with a match against New Zealand one they are expected to win with ease. England have averaged two goals a game over their last five and conceded just twice in that period.

New Zealand come into this game with just one win in their last 10 fixtures. They’ve lost eight in that time, most recently a humbling 4-0 defeat to Haiti. Expectations aren’t high for the nation at the World Cup but they are perhaps even lower after conceding 19 times in their last 10 games and only managing to score eight. It would be a big shock for the Kiwis to pick up a win here but their confidence might need something positive to come from this game.
Head-to-Head
Surprisingly, this will be the first ever meeting between these two nations. With no historical data to look at, it’ll be interesting to see how they match up and who will prevail in their first encounter.
Can the Three Lions roar or will they whimper into the World Cup?
England will be searching for a momentum gaining big win against New Zealand but with some of their squad still not available for selection, it could be the fringe players in the squad that appear. We’re happy to back Marcus Rashford to have 2+ shots on target at 6/4 with Betway, with the Barcelona forward looking in good form this season. The Three Lions are heavy favourites and we’re backing them to make light work of their southern hemisphere opponents with a 5-0 correct score available at 12/1 with Betway.
