Fresh from ending their 22-year wait for a fourth Premier League crown, Arsenal have been installed as early 6/4 favourites to retain the title. The Gunners have not successfully defended an English top-flight title since their historic run of three successive championships between 1933 and 1935, but Mikel Arteta will no doubt be well backed to build on their breakthrough 2025-26 campaign.

Manchester City sit second in the betting at 5/2. After two consecutive seasons without lifting the title, the first time that has happened since 2015-2017, the post-Pep Guardiola era is now looming large at the Etihad. Enzo Maresca is heavily tipped to succeed Guardiola, with the club facing the challenge of maintaining the relentless standards set during one of the most dominant periods in English football history.

Liverpool, champions in 2024-25, are priced at 11/2 as they look to rebound from a disappointing title defence. Injuries and a lack on consistency derailed large parts of their season, while replacing the output and influence of Mohamed Salah is a huge task. For now, the club appear set to stick with Arne Slot despite mounting scrutiny after an underwhelming campaign.

Manchester United are next at 6/1 following a dramatic turnaround under Michael Carrick. Since Carrick took charge in mid-January, United accumulated more points than any other club, earning the 44-year-old the full-time gig. The challenge now will be sustaining that momentum while juggling the added demands of Champions League football next season.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are priced at 10/1 after a miserable 10th-place finish in 2025-26. Former Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso will arrive at Stamford Bridge tasked with reviving the Blues, who may actually benefit from having no European football next term, allowing them to focus entirely on domestic competitions.

Beyond the main contenders, Aston Villa enter the conversation after securing a top-4 finish and winning the Europa League under Unai Emery. Newcastle are available at 40/1, while Tottenham, despite narrowly avoiding relegation two seasons on the spin, are the only other side under a three-figure price at 50/1.

Arsenal, Man City, Man United, and Aston Villa secured the top four spots in 2025-26, with Liverpool joining the quartet in the Champions League after they came 5th.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal are heavy favourites at 1/8 to make the top-4 again next season. The Gunners have now finished there in each of the last four campaigns, placing 2nd three years running before finally lifting the title last term.

Man City are similarly short at 2/7 as they chase a 17th consecutive top-four finish, which is the longest active streak in the Premier League – by some distance.

Liverpool and Man United also head into the new campaign as odds-on contenders at 4/9 and 1/2 respectively, while Chelsea lead the chasing pack at 11/10 following their disappointing 10th-place finish last term.

Aston Villa are priced at 5/2 to repeat their top-four success, with Newcastle available at 7/1, Tottenham at 8/1, and Brighton at 12/1. Further down the market, Everton and Bournemouth are both 20/1 outsiders, while Brentford can be backed at 28/1.

As is often the case, the relegation market is dominated by the three newly promoted clubs: Coventry City, Ipswich Town and Hull City.

Hull, who returned to the Premier League via the play-offs for the first time since 2016-17, are the early 3/10 favourites to go straight back down, with bookmakers predicting a challenging first season back in the top-flight for the Tigers.

Championship winners Coventry are priced at 8/13 to suffer an immediate return to the second-tier in what will be their first Premier League campaign in 25 years, while Ipswich – promoted at the first attempt following relegation in 2025 – are available at 4/6.

All three promoted sides will take inspiration from Leeds United and Sunderland, who defied expectations after coming up last season. Leeds secured a comfortable 14th-place finish, while Sunderland produced one of the stories of the campaign by finishing 7th and qualifying for the Europa League. Despite that success, bookmakers still make the Black Cats 2/1 to be relegated next term.

Leeds are next in the market at 11/2 alongside Crystal Palace and Fulham, while Nottingham Forest are priced at 6/1 and Brentford at 7/1.

Tottenham, who only secured survival on the final day of the 2025-26 season, are considered long shots at 40/1 to suffer their first relegation from the top flight since 1977.

With the outcome of Manchester City’s 115 charges still unresolved, bookmakers are clearly wary of the uncertainty, pricing the Citizens at 14/1 to be relegated.
