How both teams go into Arsenal vs Bournemouth
Arsenal’s cup exit noise and Champions League buzz have taken attention away from their league form, but Mikel Arteta’s side are quietly flying. Four straight Premier League wins have pushed them past 70 points, with Tottenham, Chelsea, Brighton and Everton all brushed aside. That run has opened up a nine point gap over Manchester City, even if Arsenal have played a game more.
They return to league action this Saturday after nearly a month away, already showing this season they can string wins together in long bursts. The cups may be gone, but Europe is still very much alive after a hard-fought first-leg win over Sporting Lisbon. Back at the Emirates next week, Arsenal will aim to finish the job, but first they are chasing an eighth straight home win, with goals flowing as well.
Saturday’s 12.30pm clash sees two Basque managers go head-to-head as Andoni Iraola aims to guide Bournemouth through their longest Premier League unbeaten run. The Cherries have avoided defeat in 11 straight league games, though seven of those ended in draws, including the last five. Recent stalemates against West Ham, Sunderland, Brentford, Burnley and Manchester United have left Bournemouth mid-table, with European hopes hanging by a thread.

Declan Rice, Gabriel Magalhaes and Leandro Trossard all returned from knocks to help Arsenal beat Sporting, but Trossard and Martin Odegaard picked up new issues that will need checking before the weekend. Piero Hincapie, Eberechi Eze and Mikel Merino are definitely out, while Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber’s involvement is uncertain.
The injuries to Odegaard and Trossard could work in Arsenal’s favour, as Arteta has ready-made replacements in Gabriel Martinelli and Kai Havertz. Both came off the bench to turn the game around on Tuesday, giving the manager options if needed this weekend.
Bournemouth team news
Bournemouth came through the international break mostly intact, though Eli Junior Kroupi withdrew from France’s Under-21 squad. The 19-year-old is expected to be available for the trip to the Emirates and could reach double figures this season, potentially becoming the first Premier League teenager to score ten or more goals in a debut campaign since Robbie Keane in 1999-2000.
