(16.7%)
⭐⭐⭐⭐Newcastle may be favourites on paper, but after a tough semi-final against Man City on Wednesday, Brentford look worth taking a chance on here. The Bees have won two of their last three league games against Newcastle, and Premier League meetings between Brentford and Newcastle have averaged 4.1 goals per game (37 goals in 9 games), the highest ratio of any fixture played as many times.

⭐⭐⭐

With Kevin Schade out through suspension, all eyes will turn to Thiago to lead the attack for the visitors. Even though he hasn’t scored in his last three league games, Thiago tops both actual and expected goals over the past five Premier League match weeks. While some may see the recent drought as a concern, he is slightly behind his xG and has already netted 16 goals this season, making him the clear pick as an Anytime Goalscorer.

How both teams go into Newcastle vs Brentford

Newcastle’s EFL Cup defence ended on Wednesday with a 3-1 loss to Manchester City, leaving them 5-1 down on aggregate. Conceding three goals in the first 32 minutes highlighted their struggles, and head coach Eddie Howe admitted frustration over missed chances. The Magpies are now winless in four games across all competitions, including a 4-1 defeat at Liverpool, and sit 11th in the Premier League.

They return home to St James’ Park on Saturday, where they have collected nearly 70% of their league points this season. Newcastle have also had the upper hand against Brentford at home, winning nine of their last ten meetings and scoring two or more goals in eight of those games.

After two 2-0 defeats to Chelsea and Nottingham Forest, Brentford bounced back with a 1-0 win at Aston Villa last weekend, even after Kevin Schade was sent off. The Bees have been impressive recently, earning 16 points in the last eight gameweeks and conceding just seven goals, putting them just behind Arsenal in form.

Brentford sit seventh in the table and are chasing European qualification, three points off the top six. They have beaten Newcastle in two of their last three league meetings, including a 3-1 win earlier this season, but Newcastle have been strong at home against London clubs, making it a tough challenge for Brentford on Saturday.

Conclusion

Newcastle may be a little fatigued after a long evening against Manchester City on Wednesday. As a result, we like the look of Brentford to win and both teams to score at a very backable 5/1.
