Premier League stats and records you might have missed from Gameweek 16

Phil Foden continued his sparkling goalscoring form, Mo Salah’s smile returned, Jarrod Bowen became a centurion, and there were an eye-popping eight goals at Old Trafford in another action-packed weekend in the Premier League.

Below we run you through the stats you might have missed.

Salah’s smile returned

  • Mo Salah has recorded more Premier League goal involvements for Liverpool than any player has managed for a single club in Premier League.

Mo Salah may have started on the bench for a fourth consecutive Premier League match, but he didn’t have to wait long to come onto the pitch after he replaced the injured Joe Gomez in the 26th minute.

By the hour mark, Salah had written his name into the history books. His assist for Hugo Ekitike’s second goal propelled him to 277 goal involvements for Liverpool in the Premier League – 188 goals and 89 assists – which fired him clear of Wayne Rooney’s tally of 276 for Manchester United.

Stamford blues for Moyes

  • David Moyes’ search for a Premier League win at Stamford Bridge goes on.

Everton made the trip to Chelsea in great form with four wins in five games, which included wins on the road away to Manchester United and Bournemouth. That momentum, however, was punctured in a 2-0 defeat, a result that extended David Moyes’ winless run at Chelsea to 21 matches, with 14 losses.

The Toffees have now gone a staggering 31 league games without a win at Stamford Bridge, a run that stretches all the way back to 1994. It stands as Chelsea’s longest home unbeaten streak against a single opponent in league competition.

Burnley’s historic slump

  • Burnley have lost seven successive top-flight games for the first time since 1895.

Burnley sank to a 3-2 defeat at home to Fulham which extended their miserable losing streak to seven games in a row, which is their worst top-flight run since 1895.

The defeat also ended their 34-game unbeaten home streak against Fulham, which had run since 1951.

Saka sets the standard

  • Bukayo Saka is the only Arsenal player to contest 10+ duels in a Premier League game and win 100% of them across the last 10 seasons.

Bukayo Saka set-up both goals as Arsenal claimed a last-gasp 2-1 win at home to Wolves. His performance saw him become the only Arsenal player to contest 10+ duels in a Premier League game and win 100% of them across the last 10 seasons.

The winger’s influence extended across the pitch, as he led Arsenal for touches in the opposition box (6), chances created (4), and successful take-ons (3).

Meanwhile, sorry Wolves have now suffered nine consecutive top-flight defeats for the first time and have gone 20 league games without a victory.

Foden thinks outside the box

  • No player has scored more Premier League goals from outside the box than Phil Foden since 2023/24.

Phil Foden continued his superb run of form as he found the back of the net in the 3-0 defeat of Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The goal, a superb strike from distance, marked his sixth in the last four Premier League matches. Since the start of the 2023–24 season, no player has scored more Premier League goals from outside the box than Foden, who now has eight during that time.

Error-strewn Spurs

  • Tottenham have now made five errors leading to goals this season.

Tottenham sank to a disappointing 3-0 loss at Nottingham Forest, a result which piled the pressure on Thomas Frank.

The opening goal was particularly poor with Spurs defender Archie Gray disposed on the edge of the penalty area – and it means that Tottenham have now made a whopping five errors leading to goals this season – only winless Wolves have more in the Premier League.

Sunderland surpass 2016-17 total

  • Sunderland have now already surpassed their 2016-17 Premier League points tally.

Sunderland have made history by going unbeaten in 10 league games against Newcastle for the first time, thanks to a dramatic own goal from Nick Woltemade at the Stadium of Light. The Black Cats also notched a fourth consecutive league win over their fierce rivals for the first time, meaning they now have 10 wins to Newcastle’s nine in their 29 Premier Legaue meetings.

It’s not even Christmas yet, but the three points mean that Sunderland have now accumulated more points (26) this term than from their entire 2016-17 Premier League campaign (24).

Centurion Bowen

  • Jarrod Bowen has accumulated 100 Premier League goal involvements for West Ham.

Jarrod Bowen’s first-half strike against Aston Villa wasn’t enough to see West Ham get a result in the 3-2 defeat, but, on a personal level, he has now reached 100 Premier League goal involvements for the Hammers (61 goals and 39 assists).

He now only needs one more goal contribution to join level alongside Michail Antonio, who finished with 101 goal involvements (68 goals and 33 assists).

Calvert-Lewin’s hot streak

  • Dominic Calvert-Lewin has scored in four consecutive Premier League appearances for just the second time in his career.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin continued his sizzling form in front of goal after he netted Leeds’ equaliser in the 1-1 draw at Brentford.

The striker has now scored for the fourth straight game for only the second time in the Premier League – following goals against Man City, Chelsea, and Liverpool – and is averaging 0.53 goals per 90 this season.

DCL celebrated by joining the Sky Sports pundits in the studio with socks and sliders on. What a guy.

Attack attack attack

  • Bournemouth became the first visiting club in history to score 3+ goals in three consecutive top-flight matches at Old Trafford.

Manchester United and Bournemouth played out an absolute goal-fest on Monday night in a chaotic 4-4 thriller at Old Trafford.

United led 1-0, 2-1, and 4-3, but were pegged back each time by a defiant Bournemouth, who returned south with a point.

Although Bournemouth didn’t repeat their 3-0 victories from their last two visits, they still made history by becoming the first club to score three or more goals in three consecutive top-flight matches at Old Trafford.
