Kane vs Lewandowski: 2024/25 season comparison

To begin, we’ve analysed the 2024/25 season, which marked Harry Kane’s second year at Bayern Munich and Robert Lewandowski’s third campaign with Barcelona.

Kane enjoyed an excellent Bundesliga season, scoring 26 goals – 10 of which were match-winners – with an impressive conversion rate of 28.89%. He registered 90 total shots, hitting the target 60 times, and also contributed eight assists. It was a landmark year for the England captain, who not only lifted the first major trophy of his club career by helping Bayern lift the Bundesliga title, but was also awarded with both the Bundesliga Golden Boot and the Player of the Season award for the second consecutive year.

Lewandowski, meanwhile, had another prolific season in La Liga, narrowly surpassing Kane’s league goal tally with 27. He was slightly more efficient in front of goal, boasting a 30% conversion rate from the same number of shots (90), although with fewer on target (48). However, in terms of creativity, the Polish striker was less productive, managing just two assists throughout the campaign.

Expanding the scope to all competitions, Kane ended the season with 51 goals, while Lewandowski concluded his campaign with a still-impressive 42. Both players scored 11 Champions League goals apiece.

Kane vs Lewandowski: Kane’s first Bayern Munich season compared to Lewandowski’s last Bayern Munich season

Next up, we’ve compared Harry Kane’s debut Bundesliga season in 2023/24 with Robert Lewandowski’s final campaign for Bayern Munich in 2021/22.

Across most key metrics – including total goals, non-penalty goals, shot conversion, and match-winning contributions – Kane edges the comparison. He finished with 36 league goals to Lewandowski’s 35, a tally that earned him the European Golden Shoe. Notably, Kane scored 11 match-winners, nearly doubling Lewandowski’s total of six.

Kane was particularly dominant at home, scoring 22 goals at the Allianz Arena, while Lewandowski managed 16. On the road, however, Lewandowski had the upper hand with 19 away goals to Kane’s 14.

Inside the box, both strikers were lethal, each registering 33 goals. Kane slightly outperformed Lewandowski from distance and with his right foot, while Lewandowski showed greater balance in his finishing, scoring more with his left.

In terms of assists, Kane set up his teammates eight times, with Lewandowski registering three.

Kane’s individual accolades included the Bundesliga Golden Boot, Goal of the Season, and a spot in the Team of the Season, though he ultimately missed out on the league title. Lewandowski, on the other hand, closed out his Bayern career with a league title, Golden Boot, and European Golden Shoe – capping off another prolific year with silverware.

When it comes to the Champions League for those respective seasons, it’s Lewandowski who comes out on top in terms of goals. The Pole netted 13 goals to Kane’s eight and did so with a significantly higher conversion rate (48.15 to 28.57), although Kane finished joint-top of the goalscoring charts in his season.

Kane vs Lewandowski Career Goals & Assists Comparison

You can use the Comparison Matrix above to analyse how these two elite strikers stack up season by season in terms of goals and assists.

Harry Kane has netted 392 goals and contributed 105 assists across club and international competitions. That includes an impressive 62 goals in 63 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern Munich. Kane has scored 85 goals in 96 games across all competitions for Bayern Munich in two seasons. In the Premier League, only Alan Shearer has scored more than Kane’s 213 goals.

Robert Lewandowski, who is five years older at 35, boasts a staggering 610 career goals and 155 assists, underscoring his legacy as one of the most prolific forwards in modern football. His 312 Bundesliga goals rank him second only to the legendary Gerd Müller. Lewandowski, with an extra season under his belt at Barcelona, has 101 goals in 147 appearances for the Spanish giants.

Kane vs Lewandowski International Stats

Kane is England’s all-time leading goalscorer, with 73 goals in 107 appearances – 20 goals ahead of Wayne Rooney in second place. He won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup and was joint top scorer at Euro 2024. Despite reaching two European Championship finals, Kane is still chasing his first international trophy.

Likewise, Lewandowski holds the record as Poland’s top scorer with 85 goals, placing him joint 7th on the all-time international goals list.

At the most recent major tournament, Euro 2024, Kane scored three goals and Lewandowski got on the scoresheet once – neither player recorded an assist. Kane’s conversion rate was 30 compared to Lewandowski’s 20, and he accumulated far more minutes (606) and games (7) with England, reaching the final where they lost to Spain.

Kane vs Lewandowski head-to-head record

Despite their lengthy and prolific careers, Kane and Lewandowski have only gone head-to-head on three occasions. The first meeting came in the 2019/20 Champions League, when Lewandowski’s Bayern Munich dismantled Kane’s Tottenham with a stunning 7-2 win in London. Their second encounter at club level took place in the 2024/25 Champions League, where Lewandowski, now at Barcelona, helped his side to a 4-1 victory over Kane’s Bayern Munich. The only international clash between the two ended in a 1-1 draw during a World Cup qualifier between England and Poland in 2021.

Individually, both players have made their mark in these limited meetings, scoring three goals apiece. Lewandowski, however, holds a slight edge with one assist to his name.

Who is better, Kane or Lewandowski?

We wouldn’t rely solely on the Comparison Matrix to definitively say one player is better than another, as statistics only tell part of the story. But what is true is Kane and Lewandowski have, without a doubt been – and continue to be – two of the most prolific strikers in world football.

The pair have racked up a staggering number of goals and individual honours, but when it comes to silverware, Lewandowski is miles ahead. The Polish striker has lifted 13 league titles across three countries, along with 15 domestic cups, the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.

Kane, despite his exceptional talent and prolific scoring record, has only one major trophy to his name so far: the Bundesliga title. That said, breaking his long-standing drought last season could mark the start of a more decorated chapter in his career.
