Norway Women vs Italy Women predictions, odds, betting tips and team news

After topping Group A in the Women’s Euro 2025, Norway are set to face Group B runners-up Italy. The Azzurri are slightly favoured for this match-up, which will occur at Stade de Genève on Wednesday, 16 July at 8pm (UK time). Find our match preview and best bets, which weigh in at 10/11 and 6/1 below.

Both teams to score (10/11 with Bet365)

Norway’s main concern heading into the knockout rounds is their leaky defence. Despite winning all three group matches, they failed to keep a clean sheet in any of them. The five goals they conceded were the most among the group winners, and even more than Italy, who finished second in Group B, allowed.

With both teams showing a tendency to find the net, this quarter-final is shaping up to be an open, attacking affair. Italy have scored in every match so far, and under Soncin’s guidance, they should be capable of getting on the scoresheet once again.

Ada Hegerberg to Score First (6/1 with Bet365)

Ada Hegerberg has an impressive international record, finding the net 22 times in just 40 games, averaging a goal every 133 minutes. While her odds to score at any time might not offer great value, the 6/1 price for her to bag the opener looks much more tempting.

In Norway’s final group stage clash against Iceland, manager Gemma Grainger opted to give both Hegerberg and Caroline Graham Hansen a breather, with qualification already secured. That decision nearly cost them, as Iceland mounted a late comeback before Norway held on for a 4-3 victory.

Now fully rested and likely itching to get back on the pitch, Hegerberg could well make her mark early in Wednesday’s quarter-final.

How both teams go into Norway vs Italy

As touched upon, Norway had an impressive run in the group stage of the Women’s Euro 2025, securing victories against Switzerland, Finland, and Iceland. However, these opponents were not as formidable as those faced by Italy, who competed against Spain, Belgium, and Portugal. Both teams have engaged in challenging and competitive matches thus far, and, given the inherent intensity of a knockout stage, this upcoming clash promises to be closely contested.

Norway team news

Head coach Gemma Grainger won’t be able to count on left-back Marit Lund, who was sent off at the end of the win over Iceland after giving away a penalty.

However, she managed to rest a few starters, and Norway is likely to have fresher legs than Italy. The Scandinavians have started 17 different players in the tournament so far—the most of any team, next to Spain.

Italy team news

Andre Soncin will have a full selection available after a challenging campaign in Group B. Juventus forward and Italy’s number 10, Cristiana Girelli, received a break during matchday three and came on as a substitute in the second half against Spain, following her full 90-minute performance against Belgium and 87 minutes against Portugal.

Norway vs Italy head-to-head

Norway and Italy faced each other twice in 2024 during the Euro qualifiers, and both games ended in draws. This adds an extra layer to what already feels like it’s going to be an even battle.
