Man City Club World Cup group stage results

Man City were drawn into Group G alongside Juventus, Al Ain FC, and Wydad AC. The top two teams from each group advance to the knockout stage. Given their squad depth and experience, Man City were favourites to top the group and they did just that.

Matchday 1: Man City 2-0 Wydad AC

  • Date: 18th June 2025
  • Venue: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami
  • Kick-off: 8pm (UK time)

Man City looked confident in their opening 2-0 victory over Wydad AC. Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku got the goals for Guardiola’s side, both coming in the first half. The only downside was a red card to Rico Lewis late on.

Matchday 2: Man City 6-0 Al Ain

  • Date: 23rd June 2025
  • Venue: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte
  • Kick-off: 2am (UK time)

Man City really stretched their legs in their second game, thrashing United Arab Emirates side Al Ain 6-0. There were three goals in each half for Man City, with Ilkay Gundogan the only player to score more than once. Man City rotated heavily for this game, so their big victory was a warning for rivals.

Matchday 3: Juventus 2-5 Man City

  • Date: 26th June 2025
  • Venue: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia
  • Kick-off: 8pm (UK time)

This game would decide top spot. Man City went into the game knowing only a win would do, as Juventus sat ahead of them on goals scored. It was a thrilling match and Man City did come out on top. There were two goals inside the opening 15 minutes, with Teun Koopmeiners cancelling out Jeremy Doku’s opener. But Man City led at half-time thanks to an own goal, and went on to go 5-1 up before being pegged back once. Man City ended the group stage as the only team still perfect at the Club World Cup.

Man City route to the final

As Group G winners, Man City will face Group H runners-up Al Hilal in the last 16. That’s a tie Man City are expected to win. Should Man City indeed win, they’ll face either Inter Milan or Fluminense in the quarter-finals.

One of Palmeiras, Botafogo, Benfica or Chelsea will await in the semi-finals. And then the final could pit Man City against any one of Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Miami, Flamengo, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund or Monterrey.

The knockout matches are single-leg fixtures, with extra time and penalties used to determine the winner if necessary.

Who are the favourites for the Club World Cup 2025?

While Man City are strong contenders, other teams like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also pose significant challenges. However, Man City’s blend of experience, tactical nous, and individual brilliance makes them one of the top favourites to lift the 2025 Club World Cup trophy.
