The 2023 ATP Tour is moving at an accelerating pace, with the Indian Wells Masters only concluding on March 19 before Miami’s annual showpiece kicked off three days later. It’s the 38th edition of the stateside competition, with Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek the reigning champions for the men’s and women’s game respectively.
On the men’s side, 19-year-old Alcaraz — who was seeded 14th at the time — saw off then sixth seed Casper Ruud in last year’s final, winning in straight sets. It was an impressive run from the teenage sensation, who took down Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round and Daniil Medvedev conquerer Hubert Hurkacz in the semi-finals, losing just one set all tournament.
He is already through to the quarter-finals.

For the women’s game, Swiatek beat Naomi Osaka comfortably in last year’s showpiece event, winning in straights sets, including a 6-0 victory in her second to claim the gong in style. Unfortunately, the 21-year-old Pole has been forced to withdrew this year, so we will have a new winner come early April.
