Who are the favourites to win promotion?
Bolton Wanderers
It was a close run race for the all-important third and fourth positions and a loss on the final day saw Bolton drop down into fifth and lose home advantage in the second leg. Despite this, Bolton remain favourites to win promotion to the Championship through the playoffs. They take on Bradford city in the semi-finals with a place at Wembley on the line.
Stockport County
Victory on the final day of the season ensured that Stockport finished third in League One, winning the right to take on Stevenage in the playoff semi-final. County are the second favourites to win promotion and will be looking to return to the second flight for the first time since 2002. They’ve had major injury problems to deal with in the run in but those look to have resolved themselves at just the right time.
Bradford City
Bradford City struggled to pick up points in the closing stages of the season, drawing three consecutive games to put their playoff place in doubt. A final day victory ensured they finished fourth though, securing them home advantage in the second leg against Bolton Wanderers. They are third favourites to win promotion but a victory in the semi-final could see them jump to the top of the betting.
Stevenage
Stevenage are the rank outsiders in the League One promotion race but their knack for picking up victories and keeping clean sheets could be just the formula for success in a knockout competition. The side are also the form team of the four sides in the playoffs, picking up eight points from their final four games of the season and they could end up looking a little overpriced if they get things right.
