Rob Page and the nation of Wales will still be in a celebratory mood after confirming their spot in the World Cup with that 1-0 play-off win over Ukraine on Sunday, but his job now will be to make sure there is no lingering hangover from that dewy-eyed spectacle in Cardiff when the Netherlands travel to the capital later this week.
Wales are out to bounce back from their opening Nations League loss to Poland, while the Netherlands will be keen to consolidate their standing atop Group A4 after thrashing Belgium 4-1 last week.
Wales team news
Page will be tempted to retain the starting XI that got the job done against Ukraine, which could mean an attack of Gareth Bale, Kieffer Moore and Daniel James, with Joe Allen and Aaron Ramsey holding fort in the middle of the park. Brennan Johnson will be pushing for a start after coming on against Ukraine and looking lively, while Harry Wilson, likewise, will be hoping to earn a starting berth here.
Netherlands team news
Louis van Gaal has hinted that he could rotate on Wednesday, wanting to see as many of his players in action as possible – though how much rotation he goes for remains to be seen. Steven Bergwijn and Memphis Depay will likely lead the line with Davy Klaassen, Steven Berghuis and Frenkie de Jong making up a midfield three. Vincent Janssen was also recently recalled to the international fold for the first time since 2017. Virgil van Dijk is not in the squad though, only being called up for the match with Belgium, now leaving to go on holiday.
Scoreline prediction: Wales 1-3 Netherlands
