Swansea Squawka Score ratings 2026/27
Swansea are top of the Championship, and they have got there by being hard to beat rather than by overwhelming anybody. Vitor Matos’ side have won five of eight, drawn two and lost only at Southampton, conceding six goals in the process – fewer than any other side in the division. Goalless draws with Sheffield United and Wrexham are part of the same story as the 3-0 win at Derby. Below, we take a look at Swansea’s most-used XI so far and how each player has performed, based on the Squawka Score rating system.
The Squawka Score is a metric developed to assess a player’s performance relative to other players in the same position. It is shown as a percentage, and it is worth knowing that 66% is average rather than 50% – a 70% is a good afternoon and 85% or above marks out one of the best players on the pitch. Each score is calculated from a range of per-90-minute statistics, taking in the obvious numbers such as goals and assists alongside some more obscure ones that are far more position-specific. GK: Lawrence Vigouroux – 69% – Every minute of every game, 16 saves, six goals conceded and four clean sheets. The number that stands out is nine completed sweeper actions, the most at the club by a distance, which tells you how high Swansea defend and how much ground their goalkeeper is asked to cover behind it.
RB: Filip Lissah – 65% – Enormous defensive volume: 44 duels won, 26 clearances, 10 tackles won, nine interceptions, five blocked shots and 23 possessions regained in his own third, all among the best figures in the side. Four yellow cards is the most in the squad and the one thing holding the rating down.
RCB: Ben Cabango – 69% – The captain has made 49 clearances in only five starts, the most of any Swansea player, along with 15 aerial duels won and 34 progressive passes. Injury has cost him three games; the defensive record has not suffered much without him, which is a credit to the squad rather than a criticism of him.
LCB: Stephen Welsh – 70% – The best-rated defender at the club and an ever-present. Sixty-seven progressive passes and 23 aerial duels won both lead the squad, with 45 clearances alongside. Six goals conceded across his eight full games is the lowest figure any regular defender in the division can point to.
LB: Josh Tymon – 67% – Swansea’s creative outlet from full-back. Nine chances created and 44 passes into the penalty area lead the club, with 72 into the final third and an assist, and he takes 16 of the corners. Four clean sheets in his eight full games too.
RCM: Marko Stamenić – 66% – The metronome. Seventy-six passes into the final third and nine interceptions are club-leading numbers, with 17 possessions regained in the middle third. He offers next to nothing in the box, which is what keeps him at the positional average, but the control is his.
LCM: Jay Fulton – 64% – Five starts and three blocked shots is a thin statistical return, and that is rather the point of the role he plays. Fulton screens the back four and keeps the ball moving; the numbers that would lift a midfielder’s rating are not ones he is asked to produce.
AM: Elijah Just – 65% – Eight chances created and an assist from the No.10 role, with four completed take-ons. A tidy rather than decisive contribution, and Swansea’s modest 13 goals in eight games point to where this side could still improve.
RW: Joseph Opoku – 65% – Two goals from five shots on target and 25 touches in the opposition box, so the end product is there. Four big chances missed and a club-high 11 fouls are the flip side of a direct, occasionally wild, attacking game.
LW: Moussa Yeo – 69% – The most productive wide player at the club. Two goals, three clear-cut chances created, 27 touches in the opposition box, 11 completed take-ons and 12 tackles won, all club-leading figures. Thirty-six duels lost is the most in the side, but that is what happens when a winger takes people on this often.
ST: Adam Idah – 68% – Three goals and an assist from a club-high 17 shots, with 26 touches in the opposition box and two clear-cut chances created for others. Two big chances missed is the only real criticism of a centre-forward carrying the line on his own.
