Man City Squawka Score ratings 2026/27
Enzo Maresca could hardly have asked for more from his first month. City go into the international break top of the table with five wins out of five, seeing off Bournemouth 2-1, winning 4-1 at Crystal Palace, edging Coventry City 1-0 and Manchester United by the same score, then outscoring Sunderland 5-3. Below, we take a look at City’s most-used XI so far and how each player has performed, based on the Squawka Score rating system.
The Squawka Score is a metric developed to assess a player’s performance relative to other players in the same position. It is shown as a percentage, and it is worth knowing that 66% is average rather than 50% – a 70% is a good afternoon and 85% or above marks out one of the best players on the pitch. Each score is calculated from a range of per-90-minute statistics, taking in the obvious numbers such as goals and assists alongside some more obscure ones that are far more position-specific. A player’s season figure is simply the average of his match ratings.

GK: Gianluigi Donnarumma – 66% – Every minute played, 14 saves, five conceded and two clean sheets. Donnarumma sits on the positional average because City have given him so little to do in open play – three of the five goals against arrived in the 5-3 win over Sunderland. Quiet, and mostly untroubled.
RB: Abdukodir Khusanov – 69% – Three starts and an excellent duel record: 15 won from 19, the best ratio in the back four. Add five tackles won, three interceptions and nine possessions regained in his own third and it is a assured start from the Uzbek, even if he has offered little going forward.
RCB: Rúben Dias – 65% – Every minute played, 20 clearances and 15 aerial duels won, and his 53 progressive passes are the most of any City player. The rating sits on the average because the duel record is closer than you would expect at 19 won and 17 lost, but the basics have not wavered.
LCB: Marc Guéhi – 76% – The signing of the summer on this evidence, and City’s highest-rated defender. Guéhi has a goal and an assist, 20 clearances, 13 aerials won and a quite outstanding 26 duels won to eight lost. He has also played 78 passes into the final third from centre-back. Two clean sheets in five and not an error charged against him.
LB: Joško Gvardiol – 69% – A goal, two assists and 0.63 xA from left-back, along with 32 duels won, 11 clearances and seven interceptions. Gvardiol has been City’s most complete full-back, and the only blemish across his five full games is a single error leading to a shot.
RCM: Enzo Fernández – 71% – Three starts since arriving and already looking at home, with a goal, 52 passes into the final third and 14 into the penalty area. He has also taken a share of the dead balls. A settled run should push this higher.
LCM: Elliot Anderson – 72% – Quietly superb. Anderson leads City for passes into the final third with 83, duels won with 34 and interceptions with eight, and he has added seven tackles won and two clear-cut chances created. For a midfielder doing the work nobody notices, a 72% is a strong return.
AM: Rayan Cherki – 78% – Three goals, two assists and a club-leading 12 chances created, three of them clear-cut. His 0.94 xG and 0.94 xA are almost perfectly balanced, which tells you how evenly he has split scoring and supplying. The 90% at Crystal Palace is the best individual display any City player has managed.
RW: Phil Foden – 79% – The highest-rated City player per appearance, with two assists, seven chances created and 1.13 xG from only three starts. The caveat is a red card, which has cost him availability rather than rating, and three big chances missed. On the ball he has been outstanding.
LW: Antoine Semenyo – 70% – Two goals, three assists and 1.01 xA in his first five games for the club, with 10 chances created and 30 touches in the opposition box. The 38 duels lost is the highest figure in the side and the reason he is not rated higher, but the end product has been there from the start.
ST: Erling Haaland – 80% – Five goals in five, 20 shots, 10 on target and 3.66 xG, with 32 touches in the opposition box. Nobody in the squad rates higher across a full run of games. Four big chances missed is the only thing keeping him out of the mid-80s, and City have hardly suffered for it.
Man City set-piece specialists:
- Penalties: Erling Haaland
- Free-kicks: Enzo Fernández
- Corners: Rayan Cherki, Elliot Anderson, Phil Foden
The corners have been split three ways, with Cherki and Anderson on nine apiece and Foden on seven. Enzo Fernández has taken the only direct free-kick. City are yet to be awarded a penalty this season, so Haaland’s status as the taker is inherited rather than demonstrated.
