Norwich Squawka Score ratings 2026/27
Norwich City have played eight games and drawn none of them. Three wins and five defeats, 16 scored and 17 conceded, is the most volatile record in the Championship – every match has produced a winner and Norwich have been on the wrong end more often than not. Philippe Clement’s first full season has been anything but dull. Below, we take a look at Norwich’s most-used XI so far and how each player has performed, based on the Squawka Score rating system.
The Squawka Score is a metric developed to assess a player’s performance relative to other players in the same position. It is shown as a percentage, and it is worth knowing that 66% is average rather than 50% – a 70% is a good afternoon and 85% or above marks out one of the best players on the pitch. Each score is calculated from a range of per-90-minute statistics, taking in the obvious numbers such as goals and assists alongside some more obscure ones that are far more position-specific. A player’s season figure is simply the average of his match ratings.
One note on the Championship: the division does not carry expected-goals data, so these ratings are built on volume and quality of actions – shots, big chances, duels, clearances, passes into the box – rather than xG and xA.
GK: Vladan Kovacevic – 57% – The lowest rating in the side. Seventeen saves and 17 conceded from every available minute, with no clean sheets. Kovacevic has been exposed repeatedly by a defence that keeps splitting open.
RB: Kellen Fisher – 62% – Nine interceptions from four starts, but two errors leading to shots in 302 minutes is the worst rate at the club. Right-back has been the most problematic position in the team.
RCB: Ruairi McConville – 68% – Thirty-seven clearances and a club-leading 22 aerial duels won from six starts, with a goal. An error leading to a goal is the caveat, but McConville has been the more secure of the two centre-backs.
LCB: José Córdoba – 60% – Seventy progressive passes leads the club, with 35 clearances, six blocked shots, 22 possessions regained in his own third and 24 in the middle third, plus an assist. Three yellow cards and a red are the problem, and the suspension cost Norwich at a bad moment.
LB: Ben Chrisene – 61% – Forty-two duels won and 16 tackles won both lead the club, with 19 clearances and 18 possessions regained in his own third from seven starts. Chrisene does plenty of defending and offers almost nothing beyond it.
RCM: Kenny McLean – 67% – The captain has 44 passes into the penalty area, 99 into the final third, 13 interceptions and 20 corners, all club-leading figures, with 11 chances created and 41 duels won. At 34, McLean is still the organising intelligence in this side.
LCM: Pelle Mattsson – 66% – Thirteen chances created ties the club lead, with 70 passes into the final third, 11 tackles won, 11 interceptions and 20 possessions regained in the middle third. Seventeen fouls is the highest figure at the club and the main drag on the rating.
AM: Anis Ben Slimane – 66% – An assist and two clear-cut chances created from five starts and 311 minutes. Ben Slimane has not had a settled run in the No.10 role and the numbers are correspondingly thin.
RW: Andre Brooks – 71% – The best player at the club. Two goals, two assists, a club-leading 20 shots with eight on target, 40 touches in the opposition box and nine completed take-ons. Brooks is Norwich’s most consistent attacking threat; three big chances missed is the only criticism.
LW: Anthony Musaba – 70% – A goal and an assist from four starts, with 34 touches in the opposition box and nine take-ons in 387 minutes. Four big chances missed is the frustration – Musaba gets into the positions and has not converted.
ST: Mohamed Touré – 69% – Five goals from 11 shots with six on target is comfortably the most efficient return at the club, and it has come in only 456 minutes. Touré has been Norwich’s one dependable finisher and a fuller run of starts looks overdue.
