Serie A was once the hub of world football. In the 1990s Italian soil hosted the finest talent the game has to offer, with the likes of Diego Maradona, Paul Gascoigne and Faustino Asprilla offering entertainment both on and off the field.

Indeed Calcio once dominated the continent, and while that shift may have refocused slightly this millennium, the allure and charm of one of football’s most revered divisions has remained intact. “Golaccio” may be from a bygone era, but this season, Serie A football has offered hope for a division where Juventus don’t simply canter to another scudetto.

There has been the free-scoring Atalanta, a Premier League reunion at Inter, a Ciro Immobile-inspired Lazio and of course, the pure madness that is Napoli under polarising owner Aurelio De Laurentiis. With former hatchet-man Gennaro Gattuso now at the helm, who knows what will happen? A Coppa Italia is a good start, mind.

In fact, Serie A is littered with top clubs who boast top talent. They too have interesting backstories, stadia and plenty of similarities with your club. So, if you’re interested in watching Italian football, but don’t know who to follow, then take our personality quiz to find your most compatible club.
