Serie A Golden Boot: Can you name every Capocannoniere award winner since 2000?
Throughout its long history, Serie A has been blessed with an extremely high number of elite strikers.
In terms of out-and-out goalscorers, a lot of the greats have played in Italy’s top flight at some point during their career, blessing fans with a series of superb strikes.
Although the 1990s was considered the peak of Serie A’s position as a superpower in football, with some of the world’s best players plying their trade in Italy at the time, the 21st century has also had its fair share of stars.
A lot of those star strikers have, of course, gone on to win Serie A’s Capocannoniere – finishing a season as top scorer – whether it be helping their side win the Scudetto or simply boosting their own individual profile.
Since the 1999/2000 season, 18 different players have finished as Serie A’s top scorer, with the Capocannoniere being shared on three occasions – in 2001/02, 2014/15 and 2017/18.
So, how good is your knowledge and memory of Serie A football in the 21st century? Can you name all 17 players to win the Capocannoniere since the start of the 1999/2000 season?
And, more importantly, can you do it inside five minutes without cheating? Here’s a tip: thinking back to the glorious Gazzetta Football Italia days might help you when wracking your brains for the earlier years.
Good luck!
