The Premier League has been blessed with a number of excellent goalscorers over the years.
Just look at the two players to have hit 200+ goals in Alan Shearer (260) and Wayne Rooney (208), scoring proof that England’s top flight can benefit the Three Lions and English stars. But there have also been a lot of non-English stars that have been truly key to the growth of the Premier League and its teams.
One such man is Sergio Aguero who, between his arrival in 2011 and departure last summer, scoring a grand total of 184 goals to help Manchester City scoop up five Premier League titles, with only Shearer, Rooney and Andrew Cole managing more goals than the Argentine.
It was in January 2020 that Aguero became the all-time top non-English goalscorer in the Premier League and it may be a while before he’s beaten. But who are his closest rivals, both active and retired? The cream of the Premier League’s non-English goalscoring crop?
