Can you name every goalkeeper to win the Premier League Golden Glove award?
Goalkeepers really don’t get enough love in the modern game.
When leagues are won, focus for praise is put often upon the goalscorers whose sheer number of strikes are pivotal to winning games.
Recently defenders have also seen positive press, particularly in the Premier League with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold having their praises sung for their part in Liverpool‘s start to the 2019/20 season.
These are the kinds of stars who often dominate both Player and Young Player of the Year awards come the end of the season. Only once has a goalkeeper won the end of season award with Peter Schmeichel doing so in 1995/96. So, instead, the goalkeepers have their own award based purely on simple statistics.
Since the 2004/05 campaign the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in a single Premier League season has been awarded the Golden Glove.
In the 15 seasons including 04/05, eight different goalkeepers have claimed the Golden Glove – including a shared award in 2013/14. But can you name them all?
And if you can, how quickly can you do it? We’ve given you five minutes to try… Good luck!
