They’ve got life in them yet.
Despite the youngsters of the footballing world often grabbing the headlines, there is a lot to be said for the select few who are able to continue playing in the Premier League as they head towards their forties.
Whether it be waiting in the wings for the younger crop to need a rest or mastering their role as the team’s go-to veteran, every club in England’s top flight needs a bit of experience scattered in their respective squads.
After all, as Alan Hansen famously said: “You can’t win anything with kids”. Whilst, of course, he wasn’t entirely right, let’s take a moment to appreciate those who are proving that age really is just a number.
They may not be getting any big-money moves anytime soon – and contract renewals may not be forthcoming either – but it’s time to put some respect on their names.
