At some point in time, football clubs decided just two kits (home and away) were not enough.
The birth of the third kit, sometimes referred to as a ‘stadium shirt’, has exploded in recent years, opening the floodgates for experimentation, collaborations and, quite simply, for the creative juices of designers to run wild.
Some classic collaborative examples over the past few seasons alone include Real Madrid’s link up with famed Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto for 2014/15 and PSG’s first crossover with Nike Air Jordan in 2018/19.
